St. Paul mayoral hopeful Eva Ng Wednesday challenged Mayor Chris Coleman to seven debates, one in each of the city's wards. The mayor didn't bite.

Coleman campaign manager John Stiles called the GOP-endorsed Ng's move a "stunt right out of Republican (Gov.) Tim Pawlenty's playbook" and said Coleman, a Democrat, wasn't interested in the series of debates until Ng proposed "substantive policies."

The pair already have agreed to debate Oct. 6 in forum sponsored by the League of Woman Voters.

Coleman is considering a run for governor next year, and Ng repeated her previous challenge of Coleman to sign a pledge to serve out the entire 4-year-term if he beats her in November's general election. Coleman has declined to sign the pledge.

On Wednesday, the St. Paul City Council made official the results of Tuesday's primary, in which Coleman ran away with roughly 68 percent of the vote. Ng finished second with roughly 26 percent, advancing to the general election well ahead of two perennial candidates.

Please Vote DFL

For a non patrician election like St.Paul Mayor, now we all see how Chris Coleman and the Democratic Party are showing the people the power of the unions.
Great Timing showing how they weaseled their way in to St.Paul politics in 1930.

Keep property values high and inflated, keep taxes high, support unions at all costs, the taxpayers of St. Paul will foot the bill.

Chuck you and your friends in the tax and spend party have a cakewalk. The voter turnout in the last primary was around 5%. You and I know what this means, a public who doesn't care.

They don't care if their hard-earned dollars are going to pay for some thug, too lazy to get off his butt and find a job. Oh wait, there are no jobs, because the DFL is taxing businesses too much and they can't be competitive in the marketplace. The businesses can't afford to practice social welfare and hire these slobs, they don't have taxing authority like government does.

Welfare from tax dollars go through the federal government, not the local government. Some of it is distributed through the county human services, not ever the city.

eric said it in another comment section, if you can't do better than 1/3rd of the vote on a low turnout, what are going to do when the DFL actually runs a campaign?

Ng has been campaigning hard and brought Pawlenty and Chris Coleman in for her, she has the MN Republicans posting links on their official website, she has been named in every article about the St Paul race since the spring and she ends up with 26% on a low turnout. Chris coleman has been campaigning all over the state, except St Paul, did not spend much on the mayors race, people know he's running for governor and he still gets 2 out of three votes.

Why would he chage anything? People who live and vote in St Paul are either satisfied with what's going on or, don't believe that Ng can do better.

10:23,

So what is your point?

Let me leave you with a quote from Lord Tytler

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasure. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's great civilizations has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through the following sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith, from spiritual faith to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependency, from dependency back to bondage."

--Lord Alexander Tytler on the fall of the Athenian republic

The point is, when you're winning why stop doing what you're doing?

Ng can't even get the people behind her to demand more debates. The mayor has no reason to listen to someone who is clearly a waste of time.

They said they're not interested in more debates until the opponent propose more substantive policies. So, she's got some homework to do before its time to play with the big boys.

Coleman will have an easy win, now that GOP Sharon Anderson is backing Eva Ng for St.Paul Mayor.

Their are a couple of GOP women that we will see teaming up.

Sharon doesn't have a home on Summit. She didn't pay her taxes and lost it. She doesn't have a car because she didn't pay for tabs and refuse to move it out of a no parking zone.

Sharon has a problem paying her bills and like Bill Dahn, is ready to blame the government (tax payers who do the right thing) for her mishaps.
