In this instance, a man and woman posing as a pimp and a prostitute scheming to import young prostitutes internationally ask ACORN for tax advice. Trafficking in humans is deplorable, but the invented scenario puts ACORN in a tough spot. No one can argue that it’s in any way defensible to advise pimping teenagers, but impoverished communities operate in real, reality-based fear and hatred of “snitching.” If word got out that the organization reports legally questionable behavior, even those in need legitimately seeking assistance may be put off out of fear of deportation or prosecution of poverty-related issues surrounding housing, immigration, or inability to pay fees or fines. Of course, it doesn’t make protecting harmful illegal behavior in any way okay, it just means that the situation was invented to place a public organization in a very precarious spot, for sport.
While BigGovernment.com admits that the scenario is entrapment, by concocting a situation unlikely to occur in real life, the “investigators” have created much brouhaha about very little actual action. It should also be pointed out that the actions in the video reflect the poor judgment and lack of action on one representative of a large organization. There is no evidence that this is any kind of reflection on ACORN policy- it’s more like a poor reaction on the part of one individual to a surreal and absurd situation.

First of all this is a requested story, I didn't title it. I take request. Secondly, I felt it was interesting and I'm sure others will to.

ACORN is not my group and locally they have bumped heads with me a couple of times. However it cannot be denied that they work with the poor and that bothers politicians on the Right, landlords and those who care about corporations over people.

Eric, I never made any predictions here concerning the mayoral race. I must have confused you in a private email. In my email I was referring to the police department getting a house cleaning.
I will make a prediction for you. Of coarse Bill will not get enough votes to be elected a block leader let alone mayor. And like you said Chris and Eva will come out on top of the primaries. SO I agree with you on this issue "somewhat".
However, one thing you haven't considered in all of your statistical data is the unpredictability of your opposition. You have no clue what the Republicans will do before the elections in November and you have no clue what property rights advocates are planning to do. It is going to be fun and very interesting Eric.

Bob, the only movers and shakers in the party are the Funders. They provide the money so electeds can run and operatives can work. I'm not a mover or shaker.
Debbie Montgomery had a lot of advice around her. I was the only one that had a contract for a specific time to do a specific thing. I did it.
Those advisers were no where to be found when Montgomery really could have used them. She was elected without the DFL endorsement and went to work to bring in over 1100 jobs to her ward as she promised. She did it.
You'd think those adviser would have made sure she was telling that story of job creation to her constituents before the election, or the story of how she worked hard and traveled to other cities to look at their light rail system so that people are not removed from their homes or business to make way for the train.
No, instead the election year rolled around and she found herself being accused of ignoring constituents (which was a lie), and not working hard (another lie. Montgomery was a workhorse, not a showhorse and worked very hard at bringing in all kinds of businesses into an area that had been written off for years.
So, the Progressives decided she had to go and got behind Melvin. I thought she had a lot more to offer and deserved re-election so I worked to put together a strategy that will highlight her accomplishments over the last three years and goals for the next four. That strategy included going door to door and calling voters on the phone as well as mail and forum discussions.
It didn't win me any friends with the progressives and earned me some disdain from some DFLers. If any your buddies were there, they know this.
However, Melvin Carter has turned out to be pretty good at the job and the voters or Ward 1 are still being served well.
Remember what was told to you yet? Answer us this. Why would they tell you anything since you came out early for Carter? Are these the same ones telling you he is doing a bad job now?

Sharon tried to use this town hall to say the police stole her car. I called her out on it. As far as her almost daily links go. Honestly, I never go to Sharon's links. I am not into word puzzles in which I have to attempt to figure out what she is saying. I don't have the time. He is on record with operating some of the most run down property in the city. He is on police record as threatening his tenants and freely using racial epithets to get his threatening points across.

You actually got better people in this suit, but Stienhauser is one of the worst and his own testimony in court is what helped sink the case overall. Should I yet again post his own testimony in court and statements from the police report?

NONE of the plaintiffs in the fair housing lawsuits have given me money.

Frank is on record admitting he had code violations that every old house in Saint Paul has. Frank and a hell of a lot of other citizens are on record saying the city fabricated code violations with the objective of condemning the home. The city has done this to innocent citizens not once or twice, but over and over again.
Exposing these families condemned out of their homes to extremely dangerous environments in shelters where one little girl who was condemned to the street was raped! Also forcing these families to take up residence with relatives in overcrowding situations. And the city did all of this under the false pretence of safety. They supposedly were helping these families out of unlivable conditions. What a crock of shit.

ACORN here in St Paul told me (2006) personally how I was going to be targeted by them because I wasn't making enough noise on the district council over the rental properties on the East Side.
Of course trying to intimidate me with a campaign of drumming up public support or media attention is a loosing battle. Its what I do, besides as many of you haters on here know I don't have any love for landlords who take advantage of the poor.
Anyway, personally, I don't care for ACORN. Non-selfishly though I admit I know they are the ONLY voice for a lot of the poor and disconnected.
This story is a prank set up on ACORN. The ACORN employees in the video were fired immediately. Before it went to television or the internet, they were fired. That's what organizations do, when employees don't represent their organization correctly. What more do you want?
ACORN people who were caught falsifying voter registration forms were fired AND prosecuted. The Obama Administration cut them out of the door to door Census contract (one of about 300 groups).
The truth is, many of you have a real problem with the people ACORN work among. They are poorer, not very well educated, usually of some racial or ethnic minority (sounds like the tenants of a lot of 'interests' on here).
These people usually need help with government services, protection from different type of poverty predators, and often have to 'scream' to be heard.
That doesn't work too well for people who want less government and less taxes and think we have too many costly programs now.
So when you get a group to go out and motivate this class to vote- they vote for the party or individuals who talk to them about their needs. Tax cuts ain't it.
So, be honest, just come out and say you don't like ACORN because they empower the poor and that works against you personal interest.
These 'landlords' make the most off some of these programs, yet work on the other hand to eliminate them.
Then you get and old fool like Bob Johnson to stand up and rally for you talking about civil rights and such.
It would be funny if it wasn't deplorable.

Are you really asking me what I know about him? I know that in the county and federal courts he is on record as being a slumlord.
Don't take my word for it, let's look at the record:
One year and one week ago, we this out:
Caty Royce testified Steinhauser tenants would go to the Community Stabilization Project, where
Ms. Royce was the Director, to seek assistance because the homes that Steinhauser rented
them in were in such poor condition. Royce indicated that one of Steinhauser’s rental properties that she inspected had no appliances and literally no door
for the tenant to use. There was no adequate heat at the property, there were holes in the wall and rodents that she personally saw while she was at the property. She fought “vociferously” to have the Ramsey County Courts order Steinhauser to pay for the tenant’s hotel stay while Steinhauser completed the court ordered repairs to the property.
On record a couple out of about a dozen examples that back up my assessment of Steinhauser:
Steinhauser also claimed illegal code enforcement at
719 Sherburne, but could not identify any facts to support his claim. (Exhibit 19, p. 96).
In fact, Steinhauser admitted that “the things [Lisa Martin] cited me for [at 719 Sherburne] were legitimate at the property.”
Claimed illegal code enforcement but, when given the opportunity to prove himself- he admits the Lisa Martin's code citations were legitimate. His own words.
More?
Steinhauser admits that many of the deficiencies cited against 118 Litchfield were, in fact, legitimate items. (Exhibit 19, p.
206). Steinhauser also claims the illegal entry and search of 118 Litchfield by code enforcement. (Exhibit 19, p. 501). However, he admits that he does not know whether or not the tenant or her son, white individuals, let them in. (Exhibit 19, p. 502, Exh. 20, p. 6).
Steinhauser also claims illegal code enforcement at his property at 1024 Euclid, but admits that many of the deficiencies that he was cited for were legitimate and even possibly caused by tenants. (Exhibit 19, pp. 186-188;199-200). Steinhauser took photos of 1024 Euclid that he admits legitimately show deficiencies in his properties.
He admits that the write-ups were legit and we find out that not all of his tenants are minorities. He does seem to lay fault of damage to tenants which is what happens- but it doesn't change the fact that he was written up legitimately and thus no RICO conspiracy. His OWN photos show his property to be in violation. Smart.
The Police were called to 1024 Euclid on October 29, 2002, by
a tenant because Steinhauser was “verbally threatening” the tenant. (Exhibit 40). Officer
Wroblewski found the property, which had just been condemned by code enforcement,
“uninhabitable.” (Id., 1770). She noted that there was “no heat or smoke detectors, rotting
floors, running water in the bathroom (won’t stop), water damage, holes in the walls
throughout where rats have access....”) (Id., pp. 1770-1771) Steinhauser’s verbal threats

Any 'landlord' that have their tenants living like that, then are condemned, need to provide money to a housing fund for them to live off of until better accommodations can be found.
I don't find Frank to be stand up as a business man. This man is a horrible example of someone who should be dealing with low or no-income tenants. He clearly took advantage until he got caught. His properties had so many violations he cost the city a full time code enforcement officer.

If you take out her accusation, you still got Caty testifying and you know she is not about the bs. You still have Frank's own words that AFTER he claimed the city lied, he admitted that the code citations were legit. Also, Rosetta may have lied about the words, but, did the cop lie about the conditions of the property too?
Frank is one of the better known troubling landlords in the city. He may bring your mom flowers every Sunday and kiss babies and walk the dogs but, as a landlord his record was horrible.

I put her information out there to protect the public. This woman has a history of cheating property investor out of their money. Consider it a public service message to a certain class of citizens.

I believe all property should have minimum standards for its habitability to be fit for humans. Minimum safety and health standards that must be equally enforced in Lower Payne as it is in Mac-Groveland. Tenants who damage property, need to be held responsible. Landlords who take tax dollars (section 8, etc) need to be held to higher standard.
