Mayor Coleman Announces Launch of 2008 Budget Cruncher
(Saint Paul) – Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman announced the release of city’s Budget Cruncher web tool today as part of a greater public engagement initiative for the city’s 2008 budget process.
“The City of Saint Paul faces a $15.8 million budget gap this year. As the budget process moves forward, we are eager to hear from the public on their priorities for the 2008 budget. I encourage residents to spend some time on the website to educate themselves about our situation and share their ideas on how we can work together to meet the significant challenge before us. We have a great tradition of civic engagement, and I look forward to bringing people together to solve the city’s budget challenge,” Mayor Coleman said.
The Budget Cruncher is a web tool designed to allow residents to educate themselves on the city’s budget and try their hand at closing the projected $15.8 million deficit. The Budget Cruncher will be available through the city’s website at www.ci.stpaul.mn.us until July 15th.
In addition to the Budget Cruncher, the mayor and city staff will present details of the city’s budget challenge to the public throughout the summer. The presentations will take place at district council and other community meetings throughout July.
The Mayor will present his proposed budget in August.
The city's leadership needs a "brain cruncher" for enlightenment.
He'll bring us together all right, but it will be in the voting booth, not fooling around with some stupid web game so he can tell how we were included in the process to once again raise our taxes. I wonder if it would do any good to make one of those complaints in Kathy Lantry's office?
