Evicted from St. Paul house with no

her cocaine addiction. After one
month in a faith-based retreat
center, her adviser steered her
into a sober house in St. Paul for
what Coverdale believed would
be "phase II" of her recovery.
But Coverdale's only treatment
was a requirement that she leave
the house at least three times a
week to attend Alcoholics
Anonymous meetings. When
one of her eight housemates
showed up drunk and was
evicted, no counselor helped her or her housemates handle the
emotional fallout.
"It's just housing," said Coverdale, a mother of three who has
returned to her home in New Jersey.
Coverdale said she became unpopular in the house and was evicted
after twice smoking in her bedroom, a violation of house rules.
"I was terrified. I was in tears," she said. "They said this was not
negotiable. I had to leave and didn't know what to do.

She was given help, shelter and support, all she had to do was follow the rules. She didn't.

For a bunch of guys that bitch about liberals so much, you sure do love their programs. Programs like this are cut and starved by Republicans. If GOP State Rep Minority Leader Marty Siefert had his way, this program wouldn't exist at all.

Your politics don't match your passions.

To 8:18..

Nobody made any comment on this subject for you to say such a thing. In fact no one had commented at all prior to you.

I think you just don't like some of the other members of the Town Hall Meeting here.

I am confused why, there is really nice people participating here.

I was in a sober house for three months, the rules are very strict but there is a reason for it. These people are either in out patient treatment or just getting out of inpatient treatment, strict structure is exactly what a person in this type of situation needs. I seen several people get kick out even late at night, that I did not agree with, it is a known theory that part of recovery is relapse, in a case like that there should be some consequences and additional support for the person, kicking an addict out only puts them at a very high risk of failing...In an addicts mind it would be the perfect excuse for continued using.

The paper wants us to feel sorry for the tenant and tries to stir up the anger about the landlord, but where is the newspaper when the city is throwing 100 people a day out in the street?

No Bob, its just confusing that on other posts, there is a strong Conservative/Libertarian leaning response, and on others, the liberal programs and issues are used to make a point.

Your hero Ann Coulture would not only say good that this woman was kicked out, but start asking when can we kick the rest of them out?

Oh, I don't think she'd say that. I think that Hillary and Baraka would give them all a standing ovation when they graduated from the program though and all the while spewing out hatred for our military personel. There, you want to get nasty and presumptuous?

Anyone can make shit up.
Cite one incident where Hillary or Barack have done what say you could claim?

I didn't claim it, I stated that they "would" say as the above-post stated what Ann Coulter "would" say. You want to get real complicated and nit picky about it? You asked for it, you got it and you still aren't happy.

Bob, I had no idea that liberals want everyone to think alike that posts to the same blog or have similar morals and convictions as their own. I know many, MANY liberals and they will hone in on you and wear you down until they are so impossible that you end up giving up and reaching an agreement with your arm twisted behind your back calling out uncle. I don't think that the conservative-minded person thinks that way.

Of course, this is only me thinking that way and in the liberal's view I don't have a right to think for myself...... just wait........

While there is no track record of Hillary or Barack demeaning the troops in any way, there is real track record of Ann kicking social programs down as a waste of money. There is a real record of Ann being ignorant of addiction, until it came to Rush. There is a real record of Ann having no empathy or respect as when she attacked the 9/11 widows, or suggested that a couple of Supreme Court Justices should be poisoned, or plagerising her books, or attacking veterans (which she was fired for), or demeanign the NYC firefighter when they criticized the lack of follow through by the administration, or with her past use of ethnic slurs and so onand so on. There are plenty of examples that this woman would not be understanding toward programs like this one that help people with addiction. She'd accuse the program of being a Democratic vote getter so we should shut it down.

Pick one or two or all fo the examples and I'll give you her qoutes to deal with.

Apples ond oranges dumbass.

Position open for City of St. Paul:

typist and story reporter needed for the city, duties included correct grammar and spelling, knowledge of all urban legends with skills in presenting one-sided opposition favoring city and democratic positions. Monitoring of civil blog sites a must and will include overnight shifts and weekends.

Must be a staunch supporter of governmental rights and take a dim view of civil rights but possess strong language in reprimanding any resemblence of civil gathering of property rights.

Benefits include a pat on the head from supervisor and a narcistic character that would lead to a full time city job.

You will also need to take a short tutorial in nazism and the history of the democratic party.

Sorry 1:25 took the job, but there are many openings left. Depending on which way the wind blows the above job could have an opening.

Well, shit, this has been fun. I think it's a hoot. Someone thinks he has given me the boot, but I say turn the boot around and let him smell what he's been dishing out!

I'm no liberal. I'm no supporter of the government over people. I'm just pointing out the inconsistencies of you numbsculls. You want it all ways. The government is bad, unless you need their money (read:tax dollars) for your business, or their subsidies for your less than appealing housing that seem not to be able to make it on their own.

No wonder you can't get a suit to stick or anyone to listen to you. I love this open forum, it only emboldens the opposition when they read this. A bunch of monkeys in a fun house.

8:11 I bet you are here every chance you can get. You're always here posting. But hey then you must be a numbskull too, eh? With all the different people posting with every different view you can think of, this must be your site too. This is America not North Korea, so chill out and enjoy the freedom that you have to speak out, even if you're wrong. HAAA!

Who's money is it, 8:11 PM? The governments? Oh yeah, that's right they own everything. They even own private houses in saint paul. They must also own your's. It's their money that they hand out and they throw human beings to the street because they can, they are the government after all.

My point is if you have your own money and funding then, this stuff doesn't affect you as much. Its when you need tax dollars for your venture that you have to go through this stuff. The Salvation Army doesn't go through this.

By the way, I own some property here and there, including my home built seven years ago. I don't live in St Paul. I don't care about the ordinances, I don't need the city or the subsidies (ie people taxes) to put money in my pockets.

I like how anyone who is thrown out is a victim of the big mean city and you guys are here to save them. You?

I would much rather be saving "them" whoever that is rather than spending my efforts trying to save myself when there is no more "them" left for the city of St Psul to victimize.

Sober housing is a very important part of the recovery of an addict, you through them out like they are nothing and guess what you get nothing. Addicts are used to getting tossed around like they are nothing but you know where that gets one when it comes to recovery...nowhere. You want to help clean up the streets of the city and the crime? Help the ones that are trying to recover, give them a little respect and encouragement, it doesn't cost you a dime to do that and it may be just the boost they need to overcome their illness.

The police trying to force addicts into becoming a snitch and allowing an addict to continue using is a very sick minded way of handling a situation with an addict in which it also is very likely to turn into a dangerous situation for the snitch and their family, as in retaliation. This is where alot of the violence is started from our own police dept.

Nancy, 9:46 only understands I,I,I and me, me, me. Look at how many times he has stated either I or me and that he owns his own home, etc. Big deal we aren't talking about him, but see the narcism sneaks in there doesn't it?

And that is just exactly why the city of St. Paul is in the mess they are in is because most of the peole that live there are not concerned with the community as a whole with everyone being equal and having equal rights, they are only interested in me, me , and I and who they screw so they can benifet personally.
