HUD Secretary Attacks Black Victimhood

While racism still exists, "Young black kids are getting every opportunity that they need, just like every other kid," Jackson said. "I think in 2006 to say that everything is the fault of our brothers and sisters of the lighter hue is ridiculous."

Until blacks "begin to focus in on the serious problems that we have in our communities, and begin to try to solve those problems in the most positive manner that we can, we're not helping ourselves," Jackson said.

This story actually applies to many poor families in general. Not just blacks.

Welfare for many became a way of life. There is people who feel they have an entitlement. This perception being passed from generation to generation.Having a baby was away to get a raise on a welfare check.

Unfortunately, I have seen time and again as a handyman where people who were receiving welfare were very capable of working. And yet here would be this woman with 3 to 7 kids different Daddy's and a boyfriend living with her not working either.Often selling drugs.

The roots of youth delinquency is complex. However, it all begins in the home with neglectful or abusive parents.

Most often the parents are using drugs and the kids aren't given the tools to be self sufficient. Most these kids end up on the street before they are even 18 to fend for themselves in a society they have no ability to compete in.

They are left with a hopelessness and turn to crime and drugs. They go to school and see kids who have a normal secure family, they feel cheated and angry. Many of these kids fall behind in a school system geared to move the masses forward and the stragglers are left behind. They lose self esteem and harbor resentments toward a system they feel doesn't work for them.

In turn we as a community are made to be responsible for people who have been cast upon us due to the irresponsible parenting of others.

Negative rap music contributes to the negative community expressions from many of these youth. NIGGA this and NIGGA that, in the lyrics.Hate this and that.

Even white kids of this sub culture are calling each other NIGGA.Many of these kids video games use the same language.

I know many youth who enjoy this negative rap music. There is alternatives in Rap music with a positive message.

For all you property right advocates there is a song titled "New World New Time" by an artist named Freddy Cruger.. This song is related in many ways to the title story here. It is a bluesy Rap song that I enjoy myself. When I first heard it the song brought to mind the property rights struggle we are in.

I want to know from anyone what exactly the black leaders of Saint Paul are doing for their people. Showing these trouble makers corpses in the morgue isn't enough!

We need strong mentoring programs for the worst of these kids. We will save money and misery to do all that it takes to help the worst of the bunch.Probably save lives!

Beyond the youth we have other problems in the black community. The Black community is lacking strong leadership in Saint Paul.

Race relations play a role-

There is law suits from minority contractors claiming discrimination in obtaining City contracts.

There is racism here in Saint Paul that's for sure. It is lurking within our government our communities and personal lives.

How many of you white people can honestly say you have relationships with minority people outside of your jobs and in your personal lives?

I do! Ask Bill Dahn.
On Christmas day Bill was at my home for hours. There was Blacks, Indians, Whites & Hispanic people at my home for Christmas.I have been talking with others about race and delinquent youth issues for years.

Our country and City needs an honest debate on these subjects.

Eric you lurking? I think your input would be greatly valued.I regret you didn't come to Divas. You would of had a good time!

Bob is so correct that no being isolated to African Americans. It is based on people who are never given the tools in which to support themselves because it's easier to just give them money.
