I agree with you that you took the bribe from Jesse and agreed to run as a Republican instead of an Independence Party candidate. I have no doubt that your corruption had a part to play in Jesse's election.
Here is why.
I worked on Ted Mondale's campaign during that election. There was absolutely nobody who had any political sense that believed that Jesse could actually get any real numbers of people to vote for him. When we were in parades in the summer and we would see the bar crowds come out cheering for Jesse all of us "smart guys" the people that think they know something about politics would laugh. We "KNEW" that they would never actually show up at the polls.
So, all of the DFL candidates that year, Dayton, Mondale, Freeman and Humphrey agreed that whichever one made it through the primary would support Jesse being allowed in the debates, over Norm's objection. Again, because we KNEW that he wasn't going to get any real votes. And, when it was a debate between Humphrey, Coleman and Jesse, both of them gave Jesse a free pass, didn't ask tough questions, didn't point out where he made mistakes.
He came out of nowhere and beat them.
If you would have not accepted the bribe and would have filed against him... he would have clobbered you and the "smart guys" would have seen how many thousands of supporters he had and they would have cut his balls off in the debates.... and in ads... He wouldn't have been able to sneak up on them and get the kid glove treatment they gave him.
I don't think he would have won.
So, his bribe worked. You should be proud of yourself for your lack of morals. You may have made a Governor.

You and the rest of the DemoRatic Party covered their asses about Ramsey Action Program aka RAP using formaldehyde soaked insulation in 200,000 homes in Minnesota, put in the POOR, Minority, Disabled and Elderly peoples homes.
I spoke out and you as a sneaky rat came to my home and helped Dave Butt-Thune and the City Attorneys did their best to shut my mouth about the 1.51 PPM Formaldehyde in the FREE Insulating job that Ramsey Action Program install in my home that was FREE from chemical smells before they insulated it.
The whole Country knows of my medical condition and how I have MCS aka Multiple Chemical Sensitivity
This insulation was perches out of CANADA where it was Banned there for the High Levels of Formaldehyde.
Remember State Sen. Sandy Papass sent Ann Cook Thunderhawk to my home and she was the one that had the insulation tested, then Sandy Papass told Ann not to help me any more and then Ann "quite"
her good job with Sandy Papasses Office and her state job and then Ann Cook Thundhawk moved in with me at 256 W. Morton St. in St.Paul and we battle government together for all people that The DemoRatic Party Shit on.
We have the letter sent to Dean Barkley on 12-15-1998 saying there was "sewer gas flowing though my furnace and it said that it was a "health and safety issue" and should be repair immediately...!
It was never fixed like they siad they would pull out all the insulation that RAP install in my home and replace it with the pink fiber glass type.

You cause your own problems and my problems were cause Ramsey Action Program aka RAP now called Community Action Program, Dave Thune and his side kick Chuck Repke, Chris and Norm Coleman, Sandy Pappas and many other Democrats help cover up about Formaldehyde Soaked Insulation that was installed in 200,000 Minnesota Homes.
