A man mentioned to his landlord about the tenants in the
apartment over his. "Many a night they stamp on the floor
and shout till midnight."
When the landlord asked if it bothered him, he replied,
"Not really, for I usually stay up and practice my trumpet
till about that time most every night anyway."

I actually heard of a man riding his motorized mini bike around late in the evening in an upper rental.
Not funny! I just finished dealing with a tenant noise complaint and now its me stomping my feet! LOL
When people live in an apartment they have to expect to hear some noise, I have a tenant that complained because the maintenance man was walking back n forth in the apartment above her, he was painting at 4 in the afternoon! Yes, some landlords have the apartments painted for their tenants, we even put up smoke detectors with batteries! Wouldn't want St.Paul inspectors to wonder off to the burbs with their little dirty note book!

So I'm happy to report that the Crane Ordway building opened last
month after many years of anticipation:
The $11.7 million renovation of the historic Crane Ordway building, a
1904 plumbing supply warehouse, will provide 70 units of affordable
housing, including 14 units for formerly homeless individuals, in the
Lowertown Historic District of St. Paul.
Units in the building, ranging from 450 to 650 square feet, are
available for $390 to $610 a month for people meeting low-income
requirements. Fourteen of the units are aimed at homeless people, who
earn 30% or less of the area median income ($16,170 – $32,340). So
far, 32 units are leased and another 15 are being processed. (http://

CCHT plans to convert another 70 units in the nearby Renaissance Box
into affordable apartments next year. The concept for renovating the
Renaissance Box (old site at http://www.renbox.com) has been planned
since the former owner, Martin Lubell, was forced to sell the former
commercial building. The general concept has already been embraced
by the local district planning council.top
