Hi All,
Folk's, I will be watching the campaign finance reports real close. I am sure Mayor Coleman would want ALL his constituents to be law abiding citizens and have their homes inspected to make sure they didn't have any code violations. After all, WE, "Chris and I", want to make Saint Paul the most livable city.
The only place this rubber ankled jerk is going next November is to the unemployment line.
The mayor has lied to many times.
And does not have time to speak to me. After I promised him the job before. And he was going to clean up code enforement. But it has
took more homes away form the owners. Last summer. More people are homeless because of the code enforcement. Less people paying taxes because of this program and more vacants in St.Paul.

Hello readers, my name is Brad and
I was guided to this blog by a frequent poster here that said I could get some air time.
The news papers in the twin cities here wont deal with it and our senators have turned me away.
My problem is this, my 16 and a half year daughter was impregnated by a 26 year old illegal.
This person lives like a slob and is currentley housed with 6 other illegal and works at the Mall of America.
I called security at the Mall and they want nothing to do with it and the Federal immigration has a national tip line that makes you wait for an hour before you finally have to hang up.
Local police won't deal with it.
They refer you to immigration.
I guess it's alright if persons break Federal law under the noses of local authority.
Mr.Johnson, anyone,have you any Ideas ?

Ok, so your almost 17 year old daughter is pregnant by an illegal immigrant. It sounds like you want him deported, but you are going to have to do some soul searching. The fact is, your daughter is going to be a mommy. She is going to bring a child in to this world and as we know, children need 2 parents. Would you rather have this guy deported and deny the child any help that this guy might give this child and your daughter? Or do you think that it might be better to help him become a productive American citizen and get his act together so that he can be a father to his child and provide the things that fathers should provide for their kids. Without a father the chances of your daughter going on welfare is very high. The child is unborn and does not know what is going on. But if your only goal is to have him deported and you succeed, you would do well to remember that this child will grow up and will most likely resent the hell out of you for depriving him/her of a father. Even if you just do not like the guy the fact is he is the father of your grandchild. Is your goal to simply get rid of him because you do not like him? If he is willing to fulfill his fatherly responsibilities you should do what you can to help him become a legal citizen even if it means he has to go back to his native country and come back legally. At least your grandchild will not grow to hate you.

From what I know, based on what I am told, he doesn't sleep in a bed he sleeps on the floor.
He doesn't think he needs to but a crib and that put diapers on em and feed em beans and tortillas.
He told my daughter he didn't want to have a child and that he thought she was using contraceptives.

with some of the others living in the apartment.
This ass used my daughter to get his rocks off and all you can really say is to bless the mess ?

My daughter will raise this child as her own and I will support that.

Well, I sort of feel like I should but as long as I continue to pay taxes, whatever resources are out there to help bring this child along will be sought and used.
Until this Government cracks down on illegals, what else can you do ?
If he wants to really be a part of America, he will do it right to see his child, otherwise he will have to wait like soldiers must when they go to war.
The child needs to understand the truth about our times, like we continue to speak about and teach civil rights issues.
Should this child be taught that breaking the law is alright ?
We are ALL for immigration, but not illegal immigration.

Its too late for you to be a father to your daughter, you obviously skipped that part of the parent process, but, you can try to be decent and put some effort into raising this child.

My first question is what do you want to happen?
You've got a pregnant daughter who hasn't even graduated from high school. It appears that it was consensual, or you could have him arrested for rape.
It appears he's not going to be in the kids life and she's not trying to run away to be with him.
Make the decision to support her and this kid. Not just say it. Know that she will living under your roof, finishing high school and your grandchild will be there too.
You have a lot of contempt for the father, I suggest, you and your daughter (and your wife if she's in the picture) go together to family counseling. As cheesy as it sounds, it may help you come to grips and accept the kid and she accept that she has to grow up fast.
The headlines and jails are full of young people who had no structure or support at home.
So, I ask again, what is it you want?
I do want to know, but you certainly don't have to answer, how did she cross paths with a guy like this?

I have made friends with several illegal immigrants over the years. One that comes to mind when I read your statement was a guy I met from Honduras. I invited him over, he hardly knew any english but we were able to communicate. The first time he came over he was sitting in my living room and spit on the floor. I had to inform him we do not do that here. I learned in Honduras he was so poor he lived in a one room house with a dirt floor, no bathroom or running water. So spitting wasn't a problem and he carried this habit with him to America and my living room. If you grew up without running water I suppose anyone who had would not have the same standards of hygiene.
You aren't going to like this but, the damage has been done and this man is now part of your family. Your family and his share blood lines now. Your daughter had enough feelings for him to get involved with him. Try talking to this guy about assuming responsibility for his actions. If he will, I would welcome him to the family. Work on his hygiene issues. I'd attempt to get him permanent residency here in America so he could help raise this child. I would council him into furthering his education. More than anything, as your grand child gets older he or she will want to know the father.
To me it is important to preserve the family unit. I must warn you though, it is an up hill battle to attempt to get this guy a green card.
Years ago my daughter met a young man who was a bit of a trouble maker. My daughter got pregnant and her mother and grandmother wanted her to leave this guy. I gave her different advice, I told my daughter if she loves this man and he loves her they will talk and he will straighten out his life for her and the baby about to be born. Today, over 15 years later, I am proud to call this man my son in law. He provides a good life for my daughter and 3 grand children. What I am saying is don't always judge a book by it's cover. Turn the page and add to the story of life yourself. This guy could become the best darn son in law you could of ever of hoped to have.

I asked Brad how his teenage daughter ran into this situation that had her interacting with adults- and apparently dating them and he didn't sense any danger. A plausible answer could be, they worked at the same place.
If Brad wants to focus on deportation, then that is one of many questions that will come up. If he chooses to accept the situation as it is, then I think the advice that Bob, myself and the comment at 2:35.
Teen pregnancy is not a new issue or one related to illegal immigration, or one that is on the rise because of illegal immigration.
As an individual, you can handle one quite well and turn things around, the other is not in your control.

Its not true. It was part of the argument put forth, the biggest part of the argument was the rule of law. Interracial marriage was against the law in the commonwealth of Virginia and the Lovings, who were married in DC, but were residents of Virginia, violated that law.
The US Supreme Court ruled that law to be unconstitutional and therefore voided the decision of the lower state court.
Mr. Chief Justice Warren delivered the opinion of the Court:
This case presents a constitutional question never addressed by this Court: whether a statutory scheme adopted by the State of Virginia to prevent marriages between persons solely on the basis of racial classifications violates the Equal Protection and Due Process Clauses of the Fourteenth Amendment. For reasons which seem to us to reflect the central meaning of those constitutional commands, we conclude that these statutes cannot stand consistently with the Fourteenth Amendment.

The reasoning of the District Court
that said " Almighty God created the races ....... " is true, not that I believe what the District Court said is right or wrong.
They violated the law as it was written, by residing in Virginia after having gotten married in D.C. .
The defence was that virginia law was unconstitutional so it couldn't
be enforced and the GUILTY VERDICT
upheld by the Supreme Court of Appeals, should be over turned.
If you want my personal opinion about interacial marriages, you may not like part of it but say the word and I'll give you my opinion and tell you why.

Jeff, my life's experience's have "proven" to me that people who see color in relationships with others are generally racist.
Every time I have tried to have a rational conversation on this subject folks get offended and it turns into a slug fest.
In my opinion if you are offended when you see a black man with a white woman look in the mirror you are a racist.
I have a friend who is married to an Asian. He rocked my boat at a dinner engagement because he was offended I was dating a black woman. He made some stupid comments and almost got his ass kicked. What a f..ing hypocrite. Surprisingly there was another friend of mine at this dinner engagement who was dating an American Indian. They both were offended. They could only say, but Bobby she's black... That about sums it up for me. But then a real bigot wouldn't even understand. Kind of like Froggy's statement "Eric isn't like most blacks he works." I'm sure Froggy thought he was complimenting Eric and all the attempts in the world will probably never get froggy to understand why this is a bigoted statement.
Racism clouds the mind to reasonable thinking. I have also found that racist folks are usually less educated and have anger issues. Generally they also have a low IQ. You ever see those KKK guys on Jeraldo or those other talk shows. Usually some dumb southern hick with a 3rd grade education.

Meaning not just reading books or getting high scores on some test, it also means interacting with other people who come from different backgrounds. Knowing that it doesn't make them any better or any less.

To me people are people. Ask Bill Dahn about my life. Bill Dahn is half native American he has been over to my home on Christmas & Thanks Giving for the last 2 years. My home is a melting pot.
My dearly departed adoptive father was a full blooded Chippewa. 2 of my sisters are half Chippewa. I have Hispanic friends and family. I have black friends and family. Yeeeks I almost forgot to mention, I have white family and friends. When we get together we are friends and family color blinded by our bonds as human beings.
Unfortunately many folks my age are bigots. Especially if they grew up in Saint Paul. Mostly closet bigots here. To this day I hear racial overtones from native whites of our city. The good news is bigotry is fading away. Our children's generation isn't as ignorant.

Try taking off your white hood and put your thinking cap on for a minute. This might be a hard one for you.
I wouldn't want to live a Quaker life style. So, I would not marry into that religion. And most likely a Quaker woman wouldn't marry outside of their religion.
I wouldn't marry a Jewish woman and she probably wouldn't want to marry me either for all the same reasons.
The relationships I have with ANYONE are based on mutual respect for one another.
