Matty B's in downtown St. Paul is no longer in play. After less than three years, the supper club named after Vikings Pro Bowl center Matt Birk has closed.

The restaurant owners could not be reached for comment.

"It appears that it's closed," said landlord Randy Geller, adding that he has not been able to reach the owners. "We're doing what we need to do to regain possession of the property."

The space has had three owners in the last five years. Before Matty B's, it was briefly Rockin' Lobster. Before that, it was the long-running and beloved Gallivan's, a hangout for political movers and shakers.

The fate of the Matty B's in Minneapolis near the Metrodome remains unclear. While the phone is still in operation, numerous calls to the restaurant went unanswered.

Have you ever been there?

I have...

Have you ever been there on a day where the parking ramp above it wasn't jack hammering and you could hear yourself think?

I haven't...

I was a regular there back in the days of "Gallivan's, a hangout for political movers and shakers,"
back in the day when a lobbyist could buy an elected official a drink...or a lot of drinks...

That's against the law now.
