A St. Paul man tied up an acquaintance and recruited a friend's children to help him beat the man with a belt and table legs before he tried to sexually assault him -- all to retaliate for the burglary of the friend's home, according to charges filed this week in Ramsey County District Court.
Taylor Gordon IV, 22, is charged with third-degree assault and first-degree criminal sexual conduct, both felonies.
Authorities say police were called to Dafina Palmer's home in the 600 block of Canton Avenue just before 1 a.m. on Oct. 20. Palmer told them that she suspected that a man, identified in documents as J.T.G., had burglarized her home.
About four hours later, officers were called to the intersection of West 7th Street and Watson in St. Paul, where they met J.T.G., who had been badly beaten. After he was taken to Regions Hospital, J.T.G. told police that Palmer had accused him of stealing and then had beaten him, with her children and a man he knew as "Tay," later identified as Gordon, assisting.
Police went to Palmer's home and arrested her and Gordon. They also questioned Palmer and her children, who reported that Gordon was upset because some of his brother's possessions had been stolen in the burglary, and that he struck J.T.G. at least 20 times and kicked him at least 15 times before using a candle to sexually assault him.
Gordon denied having contact with the victim on Oct. 20. He is being held in the Ramsey County jail is lieu of $50,000 bail.

Hmmm does a candlestick count as using a weapon for defensive purposes to stop a crime being committed?
Mitch, is this how you get to 2.5 million?

I am going to ask the sheriff for a permit to carry a candle.
