Gee... I miss St.Paul, lets see kids get shot in their own front yard, probation officer gets beaten almost to death(condition unknown), probation officer has sex with his client, teacher has sex with his student,6 year old gets hit and killed by school bus. Sure sounds like a city thats progressing, one problem progressing in the wrong direction.

I had a meeting about a week ago with a state coordinator for drug/substance abuse programs along with a couple of investors to approach the system with a program idea I have, heres a brief example of my plan;

We have a 49 unit building for the plan, with a building in the middle for a community type center;

It would be a minimum of a 6 month program up to a year that would focus on reuniting mothers and their children in a family focused apartments that offered treatment, aftercare, and relapse prevention, parenting classes, along with 24/7 advocate on site and family activities. The mother would enter the program for 60- 90 days to focus on rehabilitation with visits from their children gradually adding overnights then when the mother is stable enough the child would reside with their mother in a safe environment, once the mothers stable enough she would re-enter society with her children. They would each have their own apartment with a walk through by staff done morning and evening, along with guidelines and expectations and do their own meal preparation just like they would have to do in the future, I feel addicts need to learn the basics of living and parenting and it doesn't happen with the 30 day programs.

Well thats just some of the plan, the guy I spoke to agreed that it is exactly the type of program needed but rather than fund a program such as this he said; at a meeting that he attended it was said the city would rathjer just get rid of that kind. I looked at him and said do you realize the situation and the future that puts on the innocent children? I also said I felt that was the worst statement I could hear and couldn't beleive it! I also told him if a person were to figure the actual cost compared to incarceration failed programs,foster care and a look at the future it would better society and cost less. His reponse was; a good program could cut the jobs in to many departments, so basically its job security at the cost of innocent children that are losing their mothers everyday.

Sorry but its been bothering me ever since the meeting...

Nancy, your plan would help people. Less bodies for the lucrative crime and punishment industry.

All those kiddies you would help. Might not grow up to be criminals filled with hate if you went through with your plans.

I am sorry for the typo errors before I get corrected and I also forgot to mention that there is one treatment program in northern Minnesota that allows a mother to have her children with her, I was informed that the wait to enter the program is so long that in some instances the child has turned 18 before a spot has become available for the mother.

Very sad but realistic picture of the help available for families with a parent suffering from the illness of addiction.

Please Please don't forget that this plan would also decrease the number of complaints Kathy Lantry could get in her office! Without a constant flow of complaints aqnd scapgoats to pin them on, this nitwit would not know what to do with herself.

Maybe this Legislator(Senator) would be a good person for me to talk to about getting the funding implemented for participants for the treatment program it appears he would understand the need for such a program.

I didn't realize they served alcoholic beverages at the state capital, guess its must be the same type of stressful situation like they had at the police department were they would turn to alcohol to help reduce stress.

This also shows that we all are human and make bad choices, some just don't get caught as fast as others because they have friends in higher up places to cover for them. But when you are an important figure and representing the city/state this should not happen but it does show that it doesn't matter who you are sooner or later it will catch up to you, goodluck to all that feel they are to good to get caught.

I am amazed how some of these people think they can get positive results using negative methods. We need positives to get positives.
The city has taken a wrong turn!
