Hi All,

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that many people who have lived in the burbs and beyond for years moved there to escape the inner city. WHITE FLEET!

It is common knowledge that for the most part there is many white people living outside of the inner City who have chosen purposely to live in all white communities.

With this in mind our government created policies in which low income minority people are to be displaced to these areas.

Look at what this failed policy is reaping.

We are subjecting our low income minority brothers and sisters to a living hell of community directed racism and institutional racism.

My cousin moved to Zumbrota with his significant other and 3 kids. He is black, she is white and their kids are bi-racial.

They are poor and needed a section 8 housing voucher to house their family. The only immediately available vouchers were way out like Zumbrota. So they took it out of desperation.

They moved into a caldesac of 8 Town Homes. (I helped with the move :-)) There was one other minority family living there.

The first day they moved in we hear from the other minority family who were residing there, quote- "There is racist living here"! It wasn't long before the little white kids in the complex were calling my family the N word and other derogatory statements.

When my cousin complained to the kids mother she called him the N word too. They called the police and the cops sided with the racist. Her story to the young white police officer must have sounded more reasonable I guess.I could only shake my head in disbelief.

The police didn't stop there. Days later they started pulling over my cousin and his girl. We believe they done this just to verify the car had insurance and they had valid drivers license. Maybe he was hoping to find some crack or pot, or who knows. No tickets..

From there they move to Cottage Grove. No problems with neighbors in Cottage Grove, but, the police have pulled them over for nothing more than the color of their skin to check them out. Oh yeah, the police always claim some dumb traffic violation for an excuse to violate their civil rights, never issuing a ticket. City ordinance "Driving While Black" would have been the offense.

There is many many stories like this.

Restructuring Society-

Doing the RIGHT thing is never the easy way out. We need to re-examine the failed policies of deconcentrating poverty, crime and punishment, move forward with what we know is proven methods of helping people become productive citizens.

All of our social ills are rooted in the broken foundations of family. Isn't this where we should focus our efforts?

You forget one thing Bob, St Paul is run by Democrats and everything the Democrats do needs victims and class warfare so they can get their nose into someone's business and help them. It's not gonna change until the leadership changes, and just to be fair, I think it would be the same way with Republicans at the wheel. If the people of St Paul want to cling to these types of leaders election after election, then they deserve the environment they live in. The people who mo0ved to the sunurds did something about what they din't like. The poeple who live in St Paul thought they could do the same by just having their Government Bigots chase certain types people out of certain neighborhoods and now out of the city completely. All of oyur preaching in the world is not going to change anything until the leaders and policies change.

Now take these finding to your conservative buddies in the state legislature and Congress and see how far you get. Every few years when these studies come out Republicans stick their heads in the sand and do not want to lend credibility to these reports.

Who represent these areas where this goes on?

Enough said.

Section 8 is a Government program. For you conservatives who beleive in less government, say good-bye to the programs that lend a hand to the poor. They are the first to go under Republican rule.

Saint Paul is not running section 8 out, its full and the will from the residents is not there to expand.

Oh and Bob, its called White Flight, not Fleet. Look it up and learn some more. "Cul-de-sac" is the french verse.

10:18, thank you for the spelling lesson. Why is it when Democrats fail to win public perception you resort to character assassinations and childish things like picking on spelling? Get a life!

Bob's response- What residents? The few who have sat on these neighborhood committees for decades and spoke for the ignorant masses.

As for learning something- thousands of people are learning something from this TOWN HALL MEETING.(check out the stats of how many times my profile has been viewed, very small number to the actual numbers of people who read here, but still impressive.)So who's educating who? :-)

Folk's, everyone knows what brings us together here. IT ISN'T SPELLING LESSON'S! WE COME HERE TO BE EDUCATED ABOUT DIRTY PRACTICES AND PEOPLE WITHIN CITY GOVERNMENT!

THIS IS THE ONLY REAL TOWN HALL MEETING WITHIN THE CITY.

What a life 10:18 must live, biggest concern is correcting someones spelling and/or typo error!

I do feel there are several reasons people leave the city though, its not all about being racist. There are many reasons people leave the city such as; friendly neighbors, community policing where law enforcement actually enforce laws on criminal behavior not focusing on the torn screen housing code syndrome, lower taxes with better city services, lower violent crime rates, school officials that take action on behavior issues on the school property, building and fire inspectors that are respectful to work/communicate with, and the list goes on...

I am sorry to hear the issues your relatives have gone through Bob but it takes all kinds to make the world and I feel maybe they just happen to get a bad bunch in their area, I know here at my sons school there is a no tolerance to bullying policy that is taken very seriously and that includes verbal, my son was called to the principals office twice, once for saying someone was fat and the other for calling someone dumb. Not something I was happy to hear from the school principal so my son had a couple of evenings in his room to think about his behavior and return to school and the individuals with an apology.

I do believe that families of low income do suffer to some extent living in the upper class areas being that kids will be kids and kids tend to be mean without realizing the effect it has on others. This is through the teasing because of the way they are dressed or not having the fancy expensive toys, school supplies, homes and furnishings that the others may be fortunate enough to have. Again that is where it is up to the parent to teach their children that not all families are as fortunate as others and to accept others for who they are not what they are or what they have.

Thank you for the comments Nancy.

I also agree there is many reasons people move from the inner city.

I am sorry I gave you the impression I felt racism was the only reason.

It's much more racists in the burbs than the city. No question about it.

I agree there are many racist people in the burbs, they are also in the city just look at the city officials. What I am saying is that it all goes back to parenting and what children are taught. Its time people start to accept society for who they are not their ethnical backgrounds, its all what you call a "learned behavior". It goes back to even my parents in their day it was uncommon to see people of color so it wasn't acceptable, today society has many culture backgrounds in which if given the proper oppertunity we could all learn from each other and to accept one another, we are all human.

After being raised in a family that was racists it took a while for me to realize how very wrong my families attitude was and for me to even give people of different ethnical backgrounds the time of day, my children are being taught differently and to accept everyone regardless of culture background. I have friends of all cultures and have found that they are people that care more about others and their well-being more than most white folks, a lot of white people are very selfish and cruel, just take a good look around and see for yourself, the day of helping a neighbor in need or loving thy neighbor has vanished for the most part.

And just why is it that people in the suburbs are racist? Is it because they expect a minimum behavior out of people and pay a police department to make sure that behavior is adhered to? Or could it be that the burbs don't put up with noisy front yard parties at 3 A.M. in the morning? Or is it that people might get arrested and pay a price for their crimes.

that statement by 12:20 indicates that people who live in the city don't expect the same thing and are somehow less deserving of safe neighborhoods.

It also tells the bigger story to my earlier point, he thinks its OK to be racist against minorities becaue they bring all of those things with them to the burbs.

OK Bob, tear him a new one.
