Hi All,

As many of you regulars know one of the hottest topics at this town hall is housing. Over the years hundreds of people have come here and complained of unfair and criminal acts perpetrated by city officials and housing code enforcement.

Your complaining hasn't gone unnoticed. The FBI contacted the Metro Property Rights Group, we had a meeting with them today from 2 to 4pm at the Martin Luther King Center on Nicolet in Mpls.

I arrived just in time to hold the door open for the FBI agent wheeling in a dolly with a cooler of pop for all of us to drink.

This isn't the first time property/civil rights advocates complained to the FBI, it is the first time the FBI asked to meet with us. Citizens wanted to know why our complaints haven't been taken seriously in the past. We were told Public Corruption was put on the back burner with the events of 911. But now with the Obama administration Public Corruption is near the top of the list of FBI priorities.

In Minnesota there is 10 agents assigned to public corruption. 2 teams of 5 members each.

There was close to 50 citizens from Saint Paul and Minneapolis at the meeting. Many came with documented evidence that peeked the interest of the agent.

Our group is split on making this information public. I decided it was in the interest of the public to post this story.
My reasons are as follows

1. I am hoping it may slow the activities that have harmed so many citizens.

2. I am also posting this so that others with complaints now have a contact number with the FBI.

I may have forgotten something a lot was said in that 2 hour meeting. If you attended the meeting and can add to this discussion I'd appreciate it.

I have renewed hope in our government.

I was at the meeting and delighted at the statement made by the FBI Agent that these were just the types of cases they were looking for when he was presented with the facts about the St. Paul housing inspectors.

Which one of the people at the meeting were you Bob? Where were you sitting? What kind of clothes were you wearing? I would have liked to talk to you and introduce myself.

If you know Jim Swartwood of the Watchdog I was sitting to his right, wearing a Carhartt coat and leather hat. Long hair in a pony tail and graying beard. Email me we can meet.

The word on the street is that.

Many city employees was take in for questioning. The Mayor is

chuck and eric was talking to the
FBI. And said "they said who cares about lazy landlords?

They make up things.

Bob K. was not in today.
Maybe he was talking to FBI too.

I heard that the city just hire more fire inspector.

Anyone see Kathly L. today??

Some U.S. Marshall in city hall
today. Looking for someone.

Maybe the city attoney. Destroying more emails.

Since a lot of city officials are on record by having given their depositions it will interesting to see if they sing the same song to the feds if and when they are questioned. Can't wait to see any discrepancies and the charges that follow from them.

Bob, I hope you all just keep talking to the FBI and let them know how many people you allowed to be crammed into housing units and the way that you inflate the rents on units when you get a shot at getting someone with a PHA voucher and all of the violations you had on properties and continued to rent the units, and the amount of cash that is taken in on unts that these guys own and don't report as income...

My response;
The only people I know crowding rental units is the city of Saint Paul.

It happens every time they condemn a family to the street and the family seeks shelter with others creating over crowding situations.

The sad thing is when I asked Steve Zaccard with fire and safety inspections where the families condemned to the street would go, he said they would most likely find shelter with family. Just before this he was telling all of us at the neighborhood meeting their biggest concern was over crowding. Figure that, he works with the city and admitted the city would more than likely create over crowding situations with their policy.

Chuck said;
and the way that you inflate the rents on units when you get a shot at getting someone with a PHA voucher and all of the violations you had on properties and continued to rent the units,

My response;
Come on Chuck, you know the reason these landlords have problems is because the city's big plan is to remove the lowest rung of rental properties, These landlords here had or have the most affordable rents in the city. That is why they have become targets. The violations on properties are still a matter of litigation.

Chuck said;
and the amount of cash that is taken in on unts that these guys own and don't report as income...

My response;
Chuck, Chuck, Chuck, these poor people the landlords rent to expect to see that rental rebate refund paper. They want that tax money for rent paid. No hanky panky there.

Some inspector being mean to one of your buddies?

Or, one of your buddies knowing about criminal activities occuring in his buildings, not doing anything about it and collecting the cash in rent payments?

Which one sounds more like an FBI case?

Civil rights violations are criminal you dumbell! The city council knows full well that it's going on and some have even participated in it and they have done nothing. Not even any kind of sham investigation. That sound pretty intentional to me. How can they not approve when they do nothing to stop it? They won't even follow the law ordered in Morris & Sax. They just do what they want. They are like thieves who get away with it for so long that they don't think they are breaking the law any more. But they are and they are going to pay the price for it.

Chuck From the looks of it you and your buddy Thune have more violations than one can count. You keep singing the same song and paint all landlords with a broad brush. Landlords are good for the city and tenants. They are investing in the city you live and paying for city services you use. They offer a valuable service to the community. Without them who would you want to provide what they do? Let me guess, the government.

It was a good meeting. Some of us reached the conclusion that there is a big difference between what is unethical and damaging to the community and what is illegal. Since the political class writes the ordinances and laws, it's hard to prosecute public officials for legal violations. However, democracy can overcome many obstacles. Yesterday's meeting was a step in that direction. We'll get there some day.

Second, it took one phone call to realize that you got a courtesy meeting. Its called outreach.

Third, Chuck is right. Asking the Feds to investigate this can and will lead them to view in writing and first hand some of your rental practices. Those are the real civil rights violations.

Fourth, Bill is right. Bitching about your perceived ethical violations is not the same as violating the law- which no one has proved even a little bit.

Bob, property is not equal to people. People have and deserve civil rights. Poverty pimps deserve to loose their property and spend some time in jail.

Eric you want folks to believe I am solely representative of landlords. Anyone who has followed this town hall knows I am interested in the civil rights of tenants also.

In Saint Paul and Mpls it seems landlords have no civil rights. It's all about depriving them of property without compensating them for it.

You have given us the impression Eric you contacted agent Kukura. Did he tell you he was laughing at us?

11:32 AM

I had the chance to talk to the agent afterwards and believe me they are not laughing. Eric is full of shit! It was also not an outreach or whatever he wants to call it. We were happy minding our own business when the FBI contacted someone in the property right group with the statement that they had heard about the corruption in the housing inspections and wanted to know if there might be anything any of us had in the way of evidence that they could have. They made the call and not the other way around. I listened to the statements someone made and saw the evidence turned over to him. Keep singin the party song Eric but some of your city officiials are going to get skewerd good.

Bill saying to Eric

wake up Eric and smell the roses, that's what you would say to the people here at A Democracy.

Those same roses smell different to different people, so one FBI agent might be more on the ball then the others and find the little bit of evidence needed to show the city and it's so called government who's the boss.

Judges and prosecuting attorney's can be persuaded to do as they are told for cash or a advancement in office, maybe one county prosecuting attorney might just see her career fail for her involvement in a a cover up of a political bribe.

What decision by a judge? That decision was out the window the minute an appeal was filed. Now there's a new judge going to look at it and it may not come out the way the last one saw it. You are telling these people to learn the structure of government? I think you have a little boning up to do in the courts arena.

Reading this thread, I see I neglected to respond to our friend Bill McGaughey.

I agree with Bill. However, like I said earlier there was evidence present to agent Kukura that could potentially lead to an arrest. We will have to wait and see.

One thing that came up at the meeting was the issue of our effectiveness in dealing with these circumstances. There was talk about the hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on suing the the city of Saint Paul and Mpls. and the effectiveness of litigation.

Most of us have come to believe something I have been preaching for sometime. The best way to deal with these issues is public embarrassment of those involved. So maybe now some of that money that has been directed at litigation will now be spent on the public venues we have in our resources to embarrass and unseat the politicians who think civil rights should take a back seat to their progressive agenda.

I have a gift for the citizens of Saint Paul. I will be distributing the Watchdog Newspaper next week. Before the distribution begins I will print some of the stories here for you insiders.

Bob et al,

For those of us that didn't attend the meeting, can you or someone elaborate a bit more on what was said and the evidence presented? I understand that this maybe detrimental to any criminal case, so understand if the answer is no.

You 2 guys don't happen to live in trailer parks do you?

1:46 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yeah, I live in a trailer park. Its the only place your mom and wife feel comfortable.

Landlords do not have a civil right to lease out units that are not up to the code, that's the law.

I'm almost positive some of the landlords will find themselves in deep trouble for fraud against the federal government.

Bob damn well knows this, the lawyer for the landlords admitted he has no evidence to back his claim beyond innuendo. Listen to the audio - or keep praying to the slumlord God for help.

The FBI are the cops for the federal level of government. Who do they work for? Think about it. They work for the US Attorney's and Judges. Their job is not to be your lawyer or investigator, their job is to work for the government (people) and gather evidence for the government(people).

Didn't Swiftee tell you all that the police are not your friend? Their job is to arrest your ass.

There used to be a cop show on tv called HOMICIDE Life on the Streets. There was a cop named Frnak on there who was very good in the 'box' (interrogation room). One time he's grilling this perp, serving him coffee and talking nice and bonding with him on the everyday problems regular joes have. Finally the guy admits to the crime because he was fed up with being kicked around in life. Frank takes the perps coffee gets up and walks toward the door. The guys says hey, where you going I wasn't finished. Frank tells him he's going to be charged with the crime and what did he think- he's a cop and he's perp.

What did you think?

Only problem is Eric is that the landlords have not done anything worng. Your dirty and corrupt little city has. Big fucking deal if some landlords have some code violations. The renter bust the place up and then there's a code violation. The landlord repairs it and the cycle starts all over again on a 24/7 basis. Every damn house in the city has some code violations.even the new ones. So what? Your point is what? That this gives the city the right to come in and lie about violations that do not exist so they can carry out their illegal agenda? You are really something man. I am suprised you are willing to sign your name to this crap. You are a very dishonest person Eric. no one has proved even a little bit.

Well, yeah - the extortion has been proven, just not in court. The thuggishness at 14 e Jessamine was proven, although the laws protected the city from any consequences.

But mr. McGaughey is right; there's a difference between unethical/slimy/evil on the one hand, and illegal on the other. The same government that employs the scumbag thugs in DSI also writes the laws to keep them safe.

He's only half right about the solution, though. Half of it is political - but since the DFL has pretty well stocked this city with either people who work for government or depend on it, that's never going to happen (until government collapses, anyway).

The other solution is when all of us who actually work for a (non-government, non-welfare) living finally realize how fucked Saint Paul is, long-term, and leave.

Which is happening. At this rate, in twenty years Saint Paul will be nothing but welfare recipients and government workers.

And when government collapses - and it will? Then YOU will be the ones that are fucked.

And I will laugh my ass off.

I sign my name to this because I am honest. I don't write shit that I can't or haven't backed up. You guys are so angry and emotional that you'll believe anyone and take any little incident and make it the Holy Grail for your case.

Let's clear some things up first:
Most people who work for the city do not live in the city.
Most people do work real jobs and are not on welfare. Like me. I don't work for the city or even in the city. St Paul has a nice tax base because people actually work who live there.

The city of St Paul has had an increase in population in the last 20 years, most major cities have seen their populations decline.

The fiscal health of the city is still strong, even in these times of recession, St Paul maintains it's top bond rating according to the bond houses that rate every city in America.

All of the above I have written and linked before on this blog.

Stop your whining and clean up your property.

He incinuates that every landlord is a slumlord, eludes to the fact that anyone who has a code vioaltion is a slumlord and goes on to lay out a case because some of the landlords in the lawsuit had violations that what the city did to them was perfectly OK. He never raises the issue about the enters rights being circumvented by the city by sending inspectors to lie about violations so they can do an end run around those renters rights to a hearing in court prior to be being thrown out on the steret. All you ever hear is about how the landlords are taking advantage of them while all the while the city is is the one breaking the law and screwing both sides in the deal. Other cities have tried this scam time and time again and when they finally run up against someone willing to sue them they lose time after time. All Eric is doing is damage control for the city. Are you supporting him as well. I see he has been a major contributor and player in St. Paul Democrat politics. Another fine example of the dirty rotten Democrats who are running this town.

Oh BTW Chuck, I am a Democrat, but I am not happy with what you and your band of progressive Democrats have done for St. Paul. St. Paul is a ghost town and it is because of the policies of the Democrats like you who have trashed St. Paul.

St Paul is one of the only major cities that has seen an increase in its tax base and population. Not exactly a ghost town.

You're gone- which makes it a better place.

Bobby Kasper lives in Forest Lake, not St Paul. He is not a member of the St Paul DFL.

Don't let the facts cloud your lie.

Funny the name Casper comes up when discussing ghost towns.

The spooks ang ghouls running things have driven out the warm blooded contributors.

There had previously been a lot of worthwhile things built into the town, so it will take time to decay, but that is inevitable. It is dead.

Increase in tax base my ass! The city is demolishing their tax base like there is no tomorrow and the only people moving in are ones who want to suck off of the freebies. Whatever business if left is very challenged by the full time efforts of the city council to stand in the way and punish business.

Eric opined: "Poverty pimps deserve to loose their property and spend some time in jail."

I agree 100%...unfortunately Jesse Jackson, Marion Barry, Al Sharpton, Howard Dean et. al. do not seem too worried.

Eric continued: "Quit your whining and clean up your properties."

Again, I agree....say Chuck, can you pass the message along to Bucky the next time you two are sharing a case or two of PBR?

Thanks...the beleaguered homeowners of Irvine Park will appreciate it.

Thune's house is falling all over the sidewalk and the neighbors say nothing. Repke's hut should be torn down but they just tell him to paint it. Other city officials living in shacks full of peeling paint, broken windows, trash laying about and yet they go after landlords for less.

Wow... hadn't read this thread in awhile and it has become another beat up on Repke thread...

Let's see someone has brought up 35E again. If you want to talk about a group that actually had to put some skin in the game to be able to fight the government, maybe that is an example this clown club could learn from.

In that case the evil corrupt Judge required all of us who signed on to the suit to put our houses on the line as a guarantee that we could pay court costs if we lost the suit. If you didn't have any resources and weren't willing to put it at risk, the judge wouldn't let you be party to the suit.

Bob, they take cash all of the time. Believe me they take cash and they have tenants that aren't looking to try and get a rent rebate or in anyway make contact with the government...

McGaughey is one of the "tin foil ten" that just ran for mayor in Minneapolis and made a public fool of himself.

Swiftee - didn't you run for office once? Didn't you get laughed out of town? Or, am I thinking of another clown?

I just love these guys who have no clue that think that the public is ignorant enough to follow their insane rants.

Swiftee, how do you manage to feed yourself?

Swiftee breaks this rule everytime he posts anything. Bill Dahn could follow these rules if you wrote it in crayon and Bob decides arbitrarily to enforce it.

Hey Eric,

This isn't St. Paul Issues Forum. Rick M and the rest of the crew at SPIF like to run off all non-Liberals off SPIF. Look what they did to every conservative poster over the last three years. They are all gone.

I see you and Chuck are a stars of that forum. I also know you were responsible for getting Bob suspended that forum by publishing a PRIVATE email. Along with Chuck you should talk. You play dirty Eric because that is all the St. Paul DFL knows. The end justifies the means. You have been pulling this crap on SPIF for years. You now you have the guts to come here and claim to be a saint.

The poster who stated his comments about Chuck is totally correct and I would like to add your name to his post as well.

I've been here since the beginning. I've been backing up everything I write since the beginning. I've been signing all my posts with my real name, since the beginning.

The whole blog is a piece of shit with little turds anonymously throwing shit out there. Everytime anything comes to light- its proven to be a false accusation.

Four years running now and no one has been able to prove a conspiracy by the city. No Proof.

You've been rejected by the city, non-profits, civil rights organizations, the legislature, the county judicial and currently losing in the federal judicial system.

All of this so that you may continue to rent shitty property that's below code to the poor.

Saint Paul is slow in utilizing its code enforcement power. New Jersey, Texas, Idaho, Illinois, Florida, Georgia, New York and even Utah have major cities with much, much tougher code enforcement for rental property and landlords.

Hopefully St Paul will see that these lax codes are getting us nowhere and the landlords are going to cry about any enforcement. Time to ramp it up and do it like we do other businesses in the city- if you qualify you get a license. You violate the code multiple times- your license to rent is revoked. Don't like it? Too bad. Go to Hudson. Most of the landlords in the city are good and decent, they, and the government housing will fill in the gap.

Eric I have seen posters on SPIF post very conservative facts, facts backed up by facts and more facts only to get hammered by the Progressively denominated posters on SPIF with statements like, "I don't feel you have enough evidence, or I don't tend to believe what you are saying." Even when these facts have been reported in multiple major news outlets and have come from court cases. You see Eric, the logic of the DFL in St. Paul is they can't do anything wrong and if they do it's George Bush's fault. The posters here are your average Joe who represents the little guy who has been raked over the coals by the city while at the same time the DFL elite have been protected. If all were treated the same, Bob wouldn't have any material to post here. People are not treated the same and thus you have the outcry you have. You have a double standard on SPIF and that is why so many conservative posters have left, because people such as yourself have run them off. Don’t cry here that someone used harsh language against Chuck, you folks at SPIF have been doing this for years.

You got one, teeny, weeny, example of this? All the posts on SPIF are in a public archive that you can search by title- go get and bring it here. You're likely to see the opposite. Conservatives spouting their views that don't match up with the facts- just like here.

You see Eric, the logic of the DFL in St. Paul is they can't do anything wrong and if they do it's George Bush's fault.
...Or Tim Pawlenty. Seriously? The DFL eats itself every election. Most of these elections here in the city that make it to November are DFLer vs DFLer. Being in the same party doesn't mean we all go to the same parties.

The posters here are your average Joe who represents the little guy who has been raked over the coals by the city while at the same time the DFL elite have been protected.

They represent themselves. The average person in the city is not paying attention to the day by day stuff and they hate slumlords. They do not like landlords who appear to take advantage of cheap property and government vouchers.
And, can you name who you think are 'DFL'? I'd like to know.

If all were treated the same, Bob wouldn't have any material to post here. People are not treated the same and thus you have the outcry you have.

Yeah right. On SPIF, people sign their real names and neighborhood. Why? Because its not just about bitching about your ignorant views, its also about proposing solutions. You will not be treated well if all you do is bitch, bitch, bitch. Just like in real life. No one likes to be around constant complainers or sad sacks.

Don’t cry here that someone used harsh language against Chuck, you folks at SPIF have been doing this for years.

I'm not crying. Its funny to see the hypocrisy. I didn't tell Bob what to use for a mission statement. He decided that by himself and then decided that it didn't matter that much but, chose to leave it up. That's hilarious. Every thread has a post that makes a mockery of this mission statement.

Let's try Mitch Berg. Gone. Mitch Berg had very factual posts, sure he was a smartazz, but he was right on target.

Mitch and I have been debating for over 12 years, since the beginning of E-Democracy. He will be the first to tell you that he had grown tired of SPIF and pushed the envelope on purpose when he left. His post were ideological, not factual. Writing a long post about government not having a role in society is not factual- its ideological which can be responded to with facts on government's historical role. That's how debates happen over there and in normal society. A fact would be something that is solid and irrefutable, like 'most people without health care, work for a living'. That's a fact that's easily check.

Here, its not about political ideology as you guys can't get any love from Democrats, Independents or Republicans. None of their appointees or elected officials have lined up behind you.

Bob Johnson posted numerous posts about code enforcement issues and you all blasted him over 14 W. Jessamine.

"You all"? I'm on record here against the action taken at 14 Jessamine. Try again.

Look at all of the posters who have been for someone other than your DFL endorsed list and you will see.

Really? Because all of us have not supported DFL endorsed candidates- including me. Very often the campaign is Democrat versus Democrat.

And, can you name who you think are 'DFL'? I'd like to know.

You all made the charges. I happen to know that the group in charge changes quite often. Sometimes its the funders, sometimes its the elected officials and when its time for an endorsement its the party activists, and every other year its the voters.

Those are the groups of the DFL that move things. Now, members in each of those groups vary and quite often change from race to race, year to year, ward to ward.

That's why its just comical to see you guys try to group us together. I wish it was as easy as getting the 'elite' together and deciding what happens next. There are as many people in those DFL groups that don't care for me and/or Chuck as there are here- even more.

That is the DFL who support people like Bobby Kasper, St. Paul Labor Boss, John, Cheaper at cards who is being supported by the powers that be in the St. Paul DFL.

I never knew this guy or heard of him and for the record, he lives in Forest Lake. After reading the piece you told me to go to, it appears that the Labor organizations want him gone and are on record with three letters for him to resign. He refuses. Well, he refuses until the next general meeting where he will probably be ousted.

What DFLer did you see, hear or read supporting him? None.
So where so you get this DFL support from? Oh yeah, nowhere. You just know most people on here don't need to read or research to know what they know. Very political of you.

My response;
ANY information posted here is susceptible to scrutiny. That is the way it is and has been since I started this forum.

You know this Eric, you never miss an opportunity to attempt to turn away readers. WHY, because the unfortunate truth is your insider friends in local politics have a lot of skeletons in the closet. Unfortunately for all of you I have created a platform here for citizens to vent their grievances with the city. You and others don't like it, to bad!

I do not delete comments of opposition. When we talk about issues or people I attempt to get all involved in the dialog. I try real hard not to be insulting when I address others, even when the person or persons repeatedly bash me and this forum.

"We are on truth seeking mission"!

I have been looking for a good place to start distribution of the Watchdog Newspaper, I better start with you and 2000 of your neighbors Eric. I'm sure you have been filling them full of shit. It's time to debrief them.

What DFLer did you see, hear or read supporting him? None.

Answer: From the Pioneer Press:

Bobby Kasper, following revelations that he was arrested on suspicion of soliciting a prostitute and cheating at gambling.

Police dropped charges in the prostitution allegation, but its exposure has had a polarizing effect within the ranks of local labor. (Why made the phone call to SPPD? A very political and connected DFLer)

A number of groups, including St. Paul Building & Construction Trades Council and the St. Paul Federation of Teachers, appear to be standing by him. (The COPE folks of these union are all DFL, Eric you know that.)

WHY, because the unfortunate truth is your insider friends in local politics have a lot of skeletons in the closet.

Bob, exactly who are my insider friends with the skeletons? You know damn well that I'm not in those circles. I've gone against some them just like I do on here with your friends. Hell, some have threatened to sue me, others wish someone would kick my tail. Sounds like A-Democracy which proves there is no universal 'circle of friends' protecting each other.

There is a general thought that these landlords are bad for the city and the neighborhoods. That's not excusing any individual bad behavior that I have acknowledged probably goes on as it does in other departments (police and fire for example)across the state and country. I've also advocates for exposure and prosecution of individuals. BUT- that's not good enough. You and your friends insist that if I don't buy into a DFL and/or city conspiracy then I'm a part of it.

That's why these Johnny come latelys are accusing me of kinds of things that just don't add up. As you've said the proof is all here in four years of archives.

A number of groups, including St. Paul Building & Construction Trades Council and the St. Paul Federation of Teachers, appear to be standing by him. (The COPE folks of these union are all DFL, Eric you know that.)

Actually, didn't the building trades endorse Republican Norm Coleman for Senate? The teachers did not endorse any of the DFL incumbents for school board this time around and one DFLer lost his seat to a candidate who was Teacher Federation supported but, not DFL endorsed.

From the story:
AFSCME Council 5 (government staffers), as well as UFCW Local 789 (food workers) and OPEIU Local 12 (office workers), are demanding Kasper resign in wake of revelations, reported in the PiPress,

Those are very strong DFL supporting groups saying step down.

As I have stated before over and over, this is a big party with many different groups. No one, or group is ever in control of 'party thought'. The Republicans are much more successful of getting everybody on board with one agenda than the Democrats ever have been.

There isn't a DFL hack or politician I don't have an address to. Even you Eric. All you insider DFLers and your neighbors need an education from a newspaper that hasn't sold it's soul to the devil. :)

As for you stating nobody from any party or group has gotten behind us, that isn't true. When we picketed the Federal building downtown Saint Paul there was other civil rights activist groups there.

To name just a couple of well known political figures, Bob Ogden chair of the Libertarian Party has been to a number of meetings with property/civil rights activist. The Libertarians were going to endorse Deb Johnson for city council until I put my two cents in. Phil Krinke writes for the Watchdog. The Metro Property Rights Action Committee has a parade of politicians, judges and so on attending meetings in Mpls at the Martin Luther King Center. Every month there is a different speaker.

Both the Libertarian and Republican parties have requested my opinion and other property rights advocates opinion on elections. There is much more activity going on behind the scenes than we talk about here.

Eric, nobody get's this crowd going like you and Chuck. Thank you for your opinion and input here. Whether you want to admit it or not, you have helped make this town hall what it is and I'm mighty grateful.

Through all the bickering and fighting here the truth does always prevail. I am thankful to all of you who participate here.
