Hi All,

Today I want to share a side of the Town Hall most of you never see.

From time to time a story that has fallen into the abyss of the A Democracy Archives is hit on in an Internet search and it touches someone close to an issue we talked about here. Today like many times in the past it has happen again.

Does anyone remember the Pioneer Press story I posted sometime agoDissed Teen Charged In Shooting Death
? Well today when I opened the email box for the Town Hall I came across a new comment posted by someone close to the murder victim.

One day I opened the Town Hall email box and there was a comment from someone close to the family of the unsolved murders on Burgess St.

I see this kind of thing often. The blog has an impact on folks lives. As of today we have talked about 1132 topics in the Town Hall.

I thank all of you kindly for your participation here!

Thank you Bob!

A Democracy provides some great insight on many topics! I enjoy reading and getting info here even when some of the disputes get a bit vulgar and childish...

Of course they're childish and vulgar. They get their little...Wait a second! I think I resemble those remarks. I do try to watch myself Nancy until I see that some are just being purposely stupid.

Anyway, Bob, if we could have more discussions that didn't dive into blaming political preference for the problem, just because its not your party, then maybe there would be some juice here.

Right now, its entertainment. Not a discussion place. Announcements and conspiracies.

As you know, that keeps this site from growing. I know you know it because when Lantry agreed to blog here- you closed off the open discussion and squashed the conspiracy nut.

1142 discussions and how many of them did NOT devolve into a blame game?

My response;
There is folks who post here who would vote for their party's canidate if he walked around with crap in his pants, just to stay true to their party. (Chuck & Eric)I want citizens to abandon their parties when nessary and vote for the person who will best serve us.

My response;
The only folks who aren't likely to post here Eric are well educated intellectuals who have passive tendencies. BUT, they are reading you can bet the farm on it! I'm sorry you are so strung out on your contempt for this site you can't recognize the positives.

This is an open forum. I let folks be themselves so others can recognize them for who they are. This helps with our quest for the truth. You must admit Eric, the Good, Bad, and Ugly comes out in all who post here, even you.

More of that contemptuous attitude for the forum that helps you with your career Eric. :)

Fact is this is the only site in the City of Saint Paul with the TRUTH on housing and many other topics. This annoys some city officials and dfl hacks like Eric. And Eric, we wouldn't be bashing dflers as much as we do here if they didn't have a lock on local politics. After all they are responsible for most of the issues that citizens have here.

Eric, we are equal opportunity bashers at the A Democracy Town Hall. We do not care what party affiliation you are with around here. If a elected official isn't ethically doing his or her job chances are the citizens will hear about it right here.

some people here, only heard your side of the story with Chuck cooperating it.
Our side of the story is call lies, or we made a mistake.

Eric, you have the opinion Saint Paul Issues and Forums is a model for citizens to gravitate to. Let me know when blue collar guy's and gal's with moderate educations have a voice over there without being subjected to childish antics.
I suspect you are the only black who post at SPIF. How many blue collar members do they have now. 1 or 2? This forum is everything they aspire to be over at SPIF and then some. We have diversity here.

BACK TO THE SUBJECT-
this is the comment left on the subject of "Dissed teen Charged In Shooting Death".

joshua's sister has left a new comment on your post "'Dissed' teen charged in shooting death of 15-year...":

josh was honeslty like my baby brother; i love him and miss him so much; he was nothing like you would think with the way the media is portraying him; he was a smart kid and was really trying to make something of himself;
killing him over a fight and a refused handshake is NOT justifiable; especially not with the "blackout" excuse;

even though the killer was young as well; he knew what he was doing; give him life.

Of coarse this means nothing to some people. The blog sucks as far as they are concerned.

I pray some of you take it upon yourselves to go to this old topic and post some support.

No, but walking around with crap in your pants doesn't equal mush in the brain. So, said stinky pants, may have some decent solutions. I just wouldn't work in close proximity with them.

More of that contemptuous attitude for the forum that helps you with your career Eric. :)

What political career Bob? I keep telling you its not for me and A-Democracy has there own 'truth'. The only office I may be remotely interested in would be Congress and I would have to move back to Chicago to have fighting chance for that.

Eric, we are equal opportunity bashers at the A Democracy Town Hall. We do not care what party affiliation you are with around here.

(Excuse me. I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.)

Wow, that statement still makes me dizzy. If I were you, I would rephrase it to say:

"Eric, you, Amanda and Chuck are allowed to write what you want. As long as you are able to stomach all of the name calling and accusations that reduce your experience, intellect, education and observations to being robotic sycophants who are professional ass-kissers. Say whatever you want."

That would be a more accurate description of the 'fair and balance' discussions that go on.

Why I keep coming back? I don't know. I was talking to Chuck about this last year. The closet thing to answer we came up with is that we know others read here who benefit from hearing the truth- or the other side of the conspiracy theories.

It kind of reminds me of the radio program that plays coast to coast at night and the subject is always conspiracy and alien theories. I forget the name of it. Maybe you should hook up with Martin and do a web radio show.

Truth is not an interest here. The interest is the airing of perceived slights and the search for confirmation- not information.

Hey, free country and all have at it.

Linda,
This blog does not value diversity. Bob does. Any diversity is bashed over and over here. I am the only black person posting here and not a week goes by that some bonehead wants to go racist with me- over what i wrote.

SPIF is diverse. It appears the local conservatives got a good response flow going and have been piling up the responses and dominate the discussions. Most of them are from the St Paul GOP and I suspect is purposeful.

There are two other blacks tha post on SPIF and I know of five who read regularly.

What I don't see is personal attacks used to respond to policy differences.

Also, if you come on there with the corruption conspiracy, you just got to be ready to back it up. Here you don't have to. Someone can say "I heard..." or "I know that..." and that passes as solid proof.

I am blue collar. There are many blue collar posters on SPIF. The politics of this blog are adverse to the interest of blue collar people but, it satisfies the need to sound off.

Everyone tried to go through the proper channels, you know that just don't work for all.
Maybe for you being a minority something got done, we know the free, white, and 21 bit.

My response;
When faced with facts during our discussion of property rights at SPIF the entrenched beaurcrats lied, conspired and manipulated their way into snuffing out the dialog so the public wouldn't hear it. That is the facts. That is why we have A DEMOCRACY TOWN HALL.

Eric, whether you want to believe it or not you are a "big part" of the reason this blog is popular. That being said, you diss this forum often. Why can't you just hate the players who oppose you and not the game?

I posted this topic because I am some what guilt ridden. Occasionally I get in a funk or lose interest in the blog and I scan over or delete emails in the A Democracy email box and I miss comments like the ones I posted here today.

Due to the archives getting hits from Internet searches this blog has a life that only I see through the A Democracy email-er emailing me new comments posted.

What I was getting at with this topic, is the impact this blog has on other folks lives. There is over a thousand stories out there with links to this forum. It is a small miracle that citizens who have been directly effected by the stories we post here, find their way to the blog in time.

I attempted to bring some understanding to the dynamics of the blog and the impact it has on others lives. Instead we get into the pro's and con's of this forum.

I am very proud of what we all have accomplished here. This is truly an open forum where the minority of viewpoints is highly guarded.

Anytime you want those insults to end Eric, you know I will delete them per your request.
But this is something to consider. IF, we start deleting vulgar or insulting comments, many citizens will not see some of us for who we are.

Eric I know at times you just can't stand me, nonetheless I consider you a friend and I have a great amount of respect for you, this forum is missing a lung or something when you aren't around.

A Democracy is what we made it,all of us! A Democracy is a good thing. We just have to cultivate it's worth.

OH, that Non-profit thing. I researched it. It's not going down. I am a journalist. I will print the truth and distribute it.

My response;
Mike Smith my son's friend is black and he post here occasionally. Other black folks have posted here on occasion. Patty Bruce and family. Some of my relatives. You are probably the only regular black poster we have Eric. I too wish this would change. Probably will change this summer when I post stories of young black men being beaten and harassed by the police. As far as racist posting here, they do. Sorry thing is most these folks have no clue they are racist. The blog is representative of the character of our city. There is a lot of closet racism here in the mid-west. Racism even has roots in local government. The wonderful thing is all of us who understand this issue see these folks clearly for who they are. I don't hate, I pity.

Bob,
I don't hate anyone on here. I don't know anyone on here to hate them. The hateful remarks I just mark-up as ignorance and yes, sometimes very annoying.

What I have observed here is a celebration of doing things ass-backwards. In particular with RICO and anything Nancy Lazaryan touches. RICO was a gamble that never was about protecting the poor's right to housing but, an attempt to lower the standards for 'protective classes'. Nancy has proven over and over to be about attention, preaching how much she knows than the people prosecuting her and figuring a way to make a bigger victim out of herself. Even Swiftee, whom I never agree with or even like posting on the same thread with, pinned her on that one.

That what's celebrated here. Real everyday people who have figured a way to get what they want through the process are side cast or ignored. Hell, some guy just made the insinuation that I am able to do it because I'm a minority. So, he's saying the city moves for minorities, your RICO men are saying the city moves against minorities and Nancy says the city doesn't move.

It doesn't make sense. That's why I take a shot at the blog. Not to sing my own song but, I take enough crap from both anonymous and Jeff, and Jim, and Froggy, that I earned it.

Good move on the journalism angle. I'm just not sure you'll be able to produce literature and mail it or distribute it.

As you know I'm Indian or like the dam Indians like to say is Native American.
One or the other is what ever you what to call me.
Your heritage isn't the thing with you and I, I think your great, but with all the Democrats over the years denying my rights as a human to safe and healthy living.
I never new the difference between the two parties, and really didn't care.
1995 change my life forever, the insulation and the sewer gases from that point on till I lost it on 9-11-2001
the ruling power in St.Paul was Democrats.
Norm as mayor and Finney did his job as Chief, Finney did whatever he was told because that was his job.
I never shut up about the condition of the home after they installed that Ins------ for free.
Over the years from knowing that the same stuff is in 200,000 other homes in Minnesota.
I went to Donald Priston at the Urban League and wanted him to tell the black people about the formaldehyde in it.
He wouldn't open his mouth because the Urban League gets government money, I told the Hmongs, Hispanics, whit's, and the worst was the dam Indians.
CLyde Bellecourt my Cousin get government money and wouldn't tell our people.
So who the hell cares about the people that live or lived in these 200,000 homes in Minnesota?
This next line is for all people and not just Eric.
As long as it "aint" Your or your family members living in these homes.

PS. I would like to thank all the Democrats that helped make the name Bill Dahn well known, before 1998
no one ever head of me until ran for governor
