Wait till they get to pay the judgements off! Still they will fight all the way to the bloody end before they will admit any guilt.....all at the expense of the taxpayer. They probably could have settled this a long time ago for less than what the legal fees cost, and their game plan is what? More of the same?

St.Paul is just beginning to get a taste of what the future holds. I am sure there will be plenty more lawsuits that begin to surface as soon as the current ones win. Then it will be time for some real changes in the budget, the way the citizens rights are treated, and we'll see how tax payers like flipping that bill!

It is obvious that the city is aware of the lawsuits and that the lawsuits hold some merit or they wouldn't still be active they would of been dismissed, yet the city is failing to control the behavior of their own employees and continue to expect landlords to control the behavior of their tenants.

I know nobody likes to admit when they are wrong but how much money will it cost the city and/or taxpayers before the city faces up to the facts and does something about their employees violating the citizens rights?

But we elected these people, and this is our return on the vote. They will squirm in the end.

Like I said a long time ago this land lord group have been looking just to cost the City money. There is nothing to the case. If everyone is treated the same and if there is no one who is financially benfiting because of the government's actions than there is no RICO case.

So, the City has wasted $200,000 playing games with a bunch of spoiled brats that are use to getting their way.

There's a lot of "ifs" in your rantings Chuck. You had better hope they materialize because if they don't, there are going to be a lot of people suing the city for their actions over the last several years.

Well 12:29 we are what two years into the RICO suit and the only entity that they have come up with that benefits is PHA (a sepperate government entity whose financial well being has little or no impact on the City's budget - they use Federal dedicated dollars). Remember that is case one - the City picks on landlords so that they shut down and make it easier for PHA to rent (like any sane person would believe that).

The only other benefit I have seen suggested is that Magner stole plywood. I would be hard pressed to believe that the City has had this huge conspiracy just so Magner can get a few pieces of plywood...

Sharon! I don't work for Dave anymore! When you are mad at him for missing a meetings yell at him not me. Its not my job to get him to meetings anymore... been there done that.

This inspections insanity has little to do with legitimate concern.

It has everything to do with bureaucracy, and perhaps perfectionism (which is associated with human disturbence).

The BIG COSTS are still coming. They should fire some of these jokers immediately, and try to cut the losses.

Chuck

Doesn't the city benifet from the buidling permits, inspection fees, increased tax valuations, etc. that result from these code compliance ordeals?

Don't they also benifet from their employment? The inspectors do get a pay check for carrying out thee illegal acts don't they.

I'm suprised no one has said anything yet about the siezure and forfieture provisions of the rico law yet.

Secondly, I don't remember anyone ever saying anything about why the city takes these actions. The fact is that all they have to do is treat one person or enity different than another and they violate the equal protection clause of the constitution and I believe that is a civil rights violation is it not?

I have finally read all the lawsuits in their entirety and it seems that the city's actions were very were planned and methodically carried out. THERE WAS NO LAW that allowed the city to require code complainces like they did and their actions caused the destruction of people's businesses. I think they are going to pay and they are going to pay big time.....especially with some of the extenuating circumstances involved!

Actually state law rrequires that the fees can't be worth any more than what it costs to monitor the work so paragraph one is a loser and the indevidually employees get paid the same no matter if the write someone up or not so paragraph 2 is a loser.

There is no there there! There is no one who would benefit in this grand conspiracy of their mind. It can't be RICO without someone getting something out of it.

Well Chuck, there sure seems to be a lot of costs going in to this investigation that you seem to feel is so clearly cut and dry as definitely not being a case, don't you feel that if there wasn't a case it would of been dismissed a long long time ago?

4:37 PM

Chuck I agree with 4:37 that there must be something here if this case is alive and going strong. Why would the city have to exhaust a great deal of money to prove something you decribe as "SILLY"?

Silly bogus lawsuits get dismissed right off the bat or shortly after.

And another thing Chuck I know many people down at Liep that tell me they're racking in the money. When Randy Kelly was around he robbed lieps surplus for the general fund.So thats proof they are making money above and beyond.
Ask your buddy Thune,he'll tell ya.

They transfered almost a million dollars out of LIEP to the general fund when Kelly was Mayor.

8:48 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

8:48 wouldn't that mean Liep is making money beyond the cost of the inspection?

Well Chuck you are once wrong again.

Maybe this is the reason you aren't a Thune aide.

OK, I always love this stuff where someone says, I know a guy who knows a guy that worked in the LIEP office and he said...

It doesn't mean shit.

The facts are the cities are not allowed to bill for licensing services more than what it costs to perform those services.

So, I don't care if you know a guy who knew a guy who once found his head six feet up his ass...

Licensing and inspection services can't make more money than it costs to perform the service.

...and another reason I didn't want to work as Thune's aide is that I had to be nice to people who asked stupid questions and made stupid coments... god that was worse than getting low pay.

Yeah I agree Repke the people running this city are answering to stupid people who ask stupid questions. And I might add, stupid ideas! Well said Repke.

I also heard the million dollar story straight from liep officials mouths.Chuck you need to get out of Daves Asshole and smell some fresh air.

Chuck stick to the things you know, absolutley nothing!!
