Below is an excerpt from a story title "Murder Up" from the link I provided on the front page.

FROM BALTIMORE-

*We can have the best in luxury living, the finest restaurants and the most intriguing arts around. But as long as our streets are dangerous and our schools failing, not enough people are going to consider making Baltimore their home.
**********************************
Scroll down a little further and you will find a story about Baltimore's NAACP.. They are leaving the City for posher headquarters and abandoning the large black population of Baltimore.

If you are a black man and are beaten down by the police here. Don't bother calling the NAACP for help, they won't call you back.

Newsflash for Bob Johnson: Washington DC has more blacks and more blacks in poverty than Baltimore by a long shot. DC is the murder capitol of the country too. The NAACP being located in the city that is ran by Congress (no local taxes for city services, all federal- yet, they still don't have a member of Congress to represent their taxation) where more blacks live than the population of Saint Paul and find themselves victims of a corrupt system.

Number two, the NAACP fought for and set up the Civilian Review Board in Baltimore with some teeth unlike here. Also unlike here, they have oversight over several agencies including:
1. Baltimore Police Department
2. Baltimore City School Police
3. Housing Authority Police of Baltimore City
4. Baltimore City Sheriff's Department.

Take note to number 3. This board is independent and the Police Commissioner HAS to wait until the CRB review and public hearing before making a decision on discipline. They can also go directly to the the Judicial branch.

So if you are a black man or anyone and are beaten down by the police contact the CRB with your incident and get the ball rolling. If you call the NAACP, thank them for supporting a system that's not a back room discussion among a bunch of cronies.

Bob, you should know better.

4:24, thank you for your input.

I personally know blacks here who have called the NAACP concerning police harassment and their phone calls were never returned.

We also have a civilian Review Board here that amounts to a hill of beans. The NAACP has a seat on this board.

I better add this-

If you are beaten by the police in the metro area these are the people to contact. You will get advice and support from this group.

It isn't wise to file a complaint with police internal affairs. There is a law that the police can abuse, and charge a victim of police brutality with a felony for filing a false report.
