The city of St.Paul would rather continue their focus on tearing down the affordable housing even though it is causing the homeless numbers to increase and crime rising like crazy. St.Paul doesn't care about the people that they consider to be below their expectations, remember they would rather move the low income and protected class of people out of the area. The only problem with that is the amount of violent crime it is causing in its path, and the lawsuit settlements that will be costing the city and/or tax payers real soon for all the damage to peoples lives these officials have caused.

Hi All,

I have been saying for sometime that with the stroke of a pen we could bring back rooming houses in the private sector. This would help with the homeless situation for the working poor.

Although, I am sorry to say folks this would not fit into the objectives of this City and the master plan to deconcentrate poverty in Saint Paul.

The past & current leadership Democrat & Republican all got together and thought of a convenient way to rid the City of poor people. Even got the state legislature involved.

They thought their plan was good and would help people. It wasn't good. And it has hurt many people. The problem is a bunch of bureaucrats can't admit they done wrong. They have careers to think about.

Our crime rates are rising. Homelessness is increasing. Social cost related to assisting the poor is increasing. All this amounts to in effective policies and nobody with the guts to seek change.

Our City is becoming a place where only someone earning $40,000 plus a year can live. Mean while the poor are becoming more hopeless and they commit disparate acts.

I'd like to hear from an elected official as to the consideration for the people who may never earn more than 10-$12 dollars an hour and work at the thousands of low paying jobs in the metro area, where would you have them live?

Currently many are in over crowding situations to afford rent. Of coarse you people that hold power are aware of this. You have a plan to seek them out and throw them on the street.

You run them out of their tents when found in the wooded areas of the City. Sending them on their way without shelter or the valuables they gained.

You are all very cruel.. How can you sleep at night knowing your brothers and sisters who are less fortunate suffer so.

The strength of a society is measured in the depths of consideration of all it's people. Not just a chosen few.

Most people know what the city is doing. Some people even commented on it at SPIF a while back when they said it was a "cost effective" way of dealing with quality of life crimes. The city leaders themselves have made no secret of it.....they actively tell their constituients to call and complain as much as they can to build documentation so they can go after not the tenant, but the landlord. One of the the major causes of homelessness today is the city of St Paul and their criminal regulatory schemes.

Make sure your house is well maintained 12:15 or you may lose it. If your concerned, talk to your neighbors, spread the word to your friends about the blog, and above all....GO VOTE in November and vote for whoever is running against the incumbent.

Vote against the incumbent? That's just stupid. In ward 6, the primary opponent to the incumbent is backed by the Mayor, and council members Helgen, Lantry, Thune and Harris. If you don't want more of the "progressives", you sure don't want Pakou Hang to beat Dan Bostrom - at least he has helped the east side.

How Has Bostrom helped the East Side? The guy's never seen a rental property he didn't hate. He lives in a million dollar house on Lake Phalen looking down his nose at people who live on Bush & Frank in a home that's not as nice as his. He is part of the problem and if his replacement is no better she will get what Bostrom is about to recieve in November.....maybe even some re-call efforts when people finally get angry enough when they find out what they are goinf to pay in property tax to settle the lawsuits against the city. St Paul is going to change whether these socialist nothings like it or not....just wait and see.
