My Farwell to SPIF

Please click onto the title of this post for my Farwell Letter to SPIF.

But first read my statements below.

#1 I asked Grace not to post this farwell email I provided her since I have no intentions of ever returning to SPIF, Kelly posted my statements to Saint Paul Issues and Forums with no regards to my request.

#2. Tim Erickson makes assumptions without all the facts just for the sole purpose of discrediting me.

Edemocracy is as I have stated many times in the past, A Democrat Indoctrination Camp.

The following post is an example of what goes on at the Democrat indoctrination forum.

If Bill McGaughey had not unsubscribed he would of eventially got the boot for his acertive defense of the property rights issue.

There is a click at Edmocracy that can get away with just about anything. They are entrenched democrats in City beaurcracy.

I will be unsubscribing from the St. Paul e-democracy forum. I know that this
will not trouble some of you in the least.

Michelle Fure, the forum moderator, has informed me (and the group) that
back-and-forth arguments such as the recent exchange between me and Chuck Repke
violate the rules of the forum. If Repke makes a provocative statement about
private-sector landlords or property-rights advocates, I am to respond to him
only in a private email. That leaves quite a lot of malicious misinformation
out there unchallenged.

I know there have been numerous complaints about my having called Repke a name
and, in general, my sharply worded responses to his postings. The moderator had
no option but to enforce the rules. I do not argue that my comments deserve an
exception to the rules. Rules are rules and every participant in the forum must
obey them or suffer the consequences. I know the forum moderator is trying to
be fair.

I still have a problem with the type of statement that Chuck Repke routinely makes about my occupational group. The mud was coming so fast and
furious that several months ago, after answering a number of baseless
accusations, I announced that I would refrain from posting for a time. That
seemed to work. For a time, the anti-landlord and anti-homeowner clamor
subsided.

Then, a week ago (June 23), I read Repke’s unprovoked reference to "the down
side of our friends who are "property rights" advocates. It appears that this
mayor, like the last mayor, like the mayor before that and the mayor before
that... has come to the realization that problem landlords are blood suckers who
pray on the poor and disadvantaged of our community. Like I have said in
earlier posts, problem landlords love the drug dealers and the extreme poor;
they both pay cash and don't make any complaints. Twenty-five people in a
duplex, no problem as long as you pay in cash. If they burn to death, so what?
Landlords have their rights!"

If you read these statements as I did, you may conclude that Chuck Repke is saying that not only do landlords of the "property rights" type
tolerate drug dealers in their buildings but they actually prefer them because
drug dealers allegedly pay their rent in cash. Worse yet, Repke is saying that
these landlords willfully neglect fire-safety regulations. Landlords think it
is their "right" to maintain fire traps. Landlords don’t care if fires break
out in their buildings and people die. We are some kind of inhuman reptile
without an ounce of sympathy for our fellow human beings.

Significantly, Repke was making these statements as Mayor Chris Coleman
announced a city-wide crackdown on landlords following a fire which injured
several people. I interpret this as a politically motivated attack on what St.
Paul city government considers to be its enemies. This is, in other words, a
kind of pogrom. It's certainly appropriate for the city to review its policies
regarding building occupancy in the wake of this fire; but when the mayor
announces a list of the city’s fifty worst landlords, this is getting into the realm of demonization which
may then be followed by persecutions of various kinds. Demonization of the
city's political enemies is where Chuck Repke fits in.

It is, of course, significant that Repke used to be an aide to City Council
member Dave Thune. The two are still friendly and sometimes go out to dinner
together. Some people have privately described Repke to me as Thune’s
"mouthpiece", despite the disclaimer that Repke often issues.

Repke, who spent much of his life as a corrections officer, also is a staff
person with a nonprofit development corporation on St. Paul’s east side which,
I presume, receives city money. I presume that Repke himself receives some of
this money in the form of a salary whose amount I do not know. Because Repke's
background is in corrections and the nonprofit has to do with housing, I presume
that Repke's housing expertise did not get him this job; it might have been his
political connections. As members of this forum know, Chuck Repke is extremely loyal to St. Paul elected officials,
inspectors and the police. Does his current paid position have anything to do
with the vocal support he often gives the city administration?

The focus of my comments is usually upon St. Paul city government. Back in
February, I mentioned several times that Nancy Osterman had said, in a sworn
statement, that a St. Paul housing inspector had told her to sell the house at
14 East Jessamine to a certain named individual for $40,000 or he would have the
house torn to the ground. I know that a number of St. Paul city council members
(and, perhaps, the mayor, too) subscribe to this forum. My comments were an
open invitation to St. Paul’s elected officials to look into Osterman's
allegations concerning an employee under their control. If Osterman was found
to be lying, then, fine, say so. But if she was telling the truth, it behooved
them to take corrective action.

This is analogous to someone telling a homeowner or landlord that dangerous conditions exist in a building. The building owner has a duty to
correct the problem before it causes harm. In this case, however, city
officials have successfully stonewalled in regards to the housing inspector's
attempted shakedown of a city resident. People like Repke have demonized me for
even bringing up the subject. Evidence exists of flagrant corruption in St.
Paul city government and no one seems to care.

Instead people care if I call Repke "dumb" for not knowing the difference
between "pray" and "prey". People are hung up, above all, on maintaining the
gentility of the conversation. While shunning substantive political discussions,
they seem instead to tinker around the edges of a subject as if contributing to
Wikipedia.

My own preference is for open discussion of fundamental questions of policy -
head to head, if need be. I prefer a freer kind of free speech than what many
people will stomach. I don't particularly care what Chuck Repke says if I, in
turn, am allowed to respond freely to him. But I will not imitate Repke in making broadly negative or
defamatory statements about groups of people without apparent basis in fact. I
will respond to those kinds of statements but not initiate them.

Under the circumstances, then, I must say that the St. Paul e-democracy forum is
not for me. (I do, after all, live in Minneapolis.) My political values are a
bit different than most posting on this forum. Good luck in your ongoing
discussions.

Bob, hit the nail on the head. It's a small click of entrenched City bureaucrats at Saint Paul Issues and Forums persuading people to believe in the democrats stupid approach to City Government.

When they don't get their way they demonize, discredit, call names and threaten people. The rules at SPIF do not apply to this chosen few.

Anonymous Anonymous said...

One more thing, Bob shared that email you sent him TIM. I read it in your words, Bob has broken "no rules at SPIF". The select chosen few just don't like him because he tells the truth about the democrats dirty deeds here in Saint Paul.

10:12 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

10:12 are you sure he didn't break any rules?

Bob clearly stated: "This offended Eric greatly and he threatened me physically. About 2 days later Eric posted my inflammatory statement to SPIF. In return I took Eric up on is offer to fight with me in a post to the feedback forum."

http://www.e-democracy.org/rules/

5. No Attacks or Threats - This keeps the forums safe. If content is illegal it will be forwarded to the proper legal authorities.

While Bob is not the only guilty party, he did clearly break the rules.

Who did Bob attack? Certainly not Eric. Eric threatened Bob that is the threat. Eric was upset with a comment not even directed personaly at him.Bob made no threat to Eric.

Let's see the threat 10:50, post it. You can't your a liar.

Eric tends to be a little outspoken and confrontational on SPIF too. I don't see why he wasn't suspended too since he made a threat to you that he's admitted.

He's generally considered and ass by a great many people on east side. I love the part he plays in domineering D5 so that nothing gets accomplished and D% ends up standing in the way of business investment and development - always in the name of protecting the public.

It's interesting to see that he part of the leadership of the Saint Paul Democrat party as Party Secretary. Sounds like a commie to me...

If there is illegal content it will be forwarded to the proper authorities huh? There has been plenty of things spoken of that have an illegal content, but I am not aware of anything being referred anywhere other then the trash can. When did they change?

11:46 - I can tell from your grammar that you have a hard time with words, so I will try to explain.

The rule states: 5. No Attacks or Threats - This keeps the forums safe. If content is illegal it will be forwarded to the proper legal authorities.

Bob's agreement to fight is a threat, and a threat of attack.

Like I said, bob isn't the only guilty party.

SPIF is almost as controversial as the City Racketeering.

I am curious what disciplinary action Eric received if any.How bout it Eric, what happened to you?You lurking?

They pin a metal on you for giving them something they could mold to make it look like Bob was justifiably suspended.

I suppose a small number of Saint Paul Issues and Forums members feel Erics threats were justifiable since the threat was directed at Bob.

Like so many other threats from SPIFers that are entrenched in City politics.

Chuck Repke was never suspended for telling another member of SPIF(conservative) that he would "rip his head off and shit down his throat"

There is definitely a disparity in how certain members are favored over others.

Of course I'm lurking and said I will speak up when ever my name is mentioned.

1. I was sanctioned by SPIF and given a stern warning. I knowingly broke the rules by forwarding a private message without permission. Next time, I'm suspended. Big deal.

2. The threat wasn't a threat. I told Bob- right here on this blog, I don't advise him to use that word in my presence. I was specific and wrote 'this is not a threat'. I didn't post it on SPIF. Black or white, I ask for that minimum respect when someone is in my presence.

I accepted Bob's apology but, like with Micheal Richards, the real problem was Bob felt comfortable enough to use it in the first place rather it was to expose a bigot or to use bigotry, any American has to know the implications behind that word. You/We got freedom of speech but, there is a 'tax' on that freedom that may be ostricization of an individual because of what you say, beleive or preach(think Louis Farrahkan or David Duke). That's also the American way.

3. Whomever made the comment about me on the District Council pulled it out of their ass, I'll give them a year to find me standing in the way of economic development. I have support all kinds of variances and waivers to the building code so that people may build and invest. When I read about businesses being turned down in other parts of Saint Paul(like Best Buy and JLT on the Westside), I call them up and meet with their folks to try and sell the Eastside to them. I have worked with our cops over here closely and was the only District Council to pass a resolution (authored by me) supporting more cops. To the chagrin of some I have supported lot splits and rehabing Duplex for people who are providing affordable housing. However, I have stood against developing more affordable (new) housing because we currently got a lot of vacancies in these single family and duplex rentals as of now. We got more than any other part of the city.

There's a lot more too but, I will give anyone as much time as needed to prove me wrong on any of the above.

4. Me being a Democrat and supporting sanctions against Diva's (not in that order) are the only two legit complaints this group should have about me. Flame on when it comes to that but, to say that I have some weak-kneed, soft belly agenda is speculation beyond what the facts support. Way beyond.

5. I am confrontational in some settings. I don't suffer fools well. This group doesn't like me, fine, I don't like this group. I don't think we're at odds in principle with a few things. I'm also not going to come here and kiss your collective asses. That ain't me.

6. I'm not going to fight over Bob's challenge. Kicking someone's ass (or the opposite)because they challenge you to a fight over something on the internet is low class and ridiculous.
Bob only challenged me because of his ego. He's never met me and has no idea what I look like, how old I am, if I'm in shape or not. That's not too smart, and probably wasn't serious. Its a man thing, I've been guilty of it.

7. Bill Dahn is correct about the Jesse Ventura and Dean Barkley incident, I saw the CD of it a couple of years ago.

8. Merry Christmas, or not. I don't care.

Arrogance?
I think the word is brash and I use it because I'm pretty confident about me and what I said and or did. Anything else is up for grabs.
I did use variations of the word ass quite a bit. I will watch that in the future and curb it.

Bill Cosby said a lot of things that he is correct on.

No.
Like I said, you don't know what a Commie is.

If that is your definition, how would you describe a socialist?

FYI, Republicans controlled the Federal government for six years. White House, Supreme Court, House and the Senate. They did nothing to stop abortion. The did nothing to strengthen the Second Amendment. Welfare spending went up. Heck the government budget overall went higher than ever before and so did our deficit and debt. All your tax dollars.

You don't beleive in a country with a safety net for its citizens? Move somewhere else. Democrats and republicans support it here. You think the bar is too low for qualifying for it? Lobby to change it or elect people who will. You see who the American people elected last month. The people have spoken.

Weren't you the liar that put out the BS about me on the District Council? Are you going to present any evidence of me blocking economic development on the Eastside? Just one? Something must have happened to make you say that. Unless, you're one of the developers who didn't like me advocating for the current rental stock we have. Again, why stick in new subsidized housing in an area where we already have a lot of affordable vacancies?

Bring your proof on me being anti-development. Of all the things that have been said about me, this one sticks out.

What's Jamowat?

"An east sider who can't stand you and your D5 bullshit."

Well duh. I have drawn that conclusion. Everybody on here has.

D5 elections were in August. I refused to have my name on the pre-printed ballots and worked for every single vote I got taking no shortcuts as a write-in. Your claim of everybody thinking I'm an ass is false.

You have had three posts to tell the world what I have done that is anti-economic development.
Hell, you can't find anything I've done that's anti-landlord as District Council President.
Working to bring in business and people and holding back the kind of development that kills the small landlord is what I'm guilty of. I'm guilty of deciding that affordable housing doesn't necessarily mean more housing, especially in a community where we have a lot of vacancies within the existing stock.

I'm still waiting for you to back up your claims. Everyone knows I'm an ass so that doesn't count. You were telling us about my mismanagement of the D5 Council. Go ahead...

Eric, would you vote to demolish a home like Jessamine that was deemed structurally sound by an independent engineer?

9:59 PM

I smart enough to try to get the facts in front of me before making a decision. I don't have the facts on that house- I have read a lot on here, and I gotta beleive that there is more. If not, then no, I wouldn't.

If you look over things that I have supported and resolutions I've authored, nothing indicates that I support tearing down good property. Heck we're pushing for ownership and occupancy not, demolition. People have invested a lifetime in these neighborhoods and empty lots do nothing for surrounding property value. Or, to attract people to invest in the area.

Eric -

Your statement “your claim of everybody thinking I'm an ass is false.” Isn't quite accurate. I never wrote everyone thinks you’re an ass. I can’t speak for everyone. I wrote, “he's generally considered and ass by a great many people on east side.” I really should have spoke just for myself but it was nice that you went on to agree with me in same post – “Everyone knows I'm an ass so that doesn't count. You were telling us about my mismanagement of the D5 Council. Go ahead...”

I don't think you mismanaged D5. I would never make a libelous statement like that. I just think the way D% members ran meetings I attended didn't lead to many things getting done. The word I wrote was "domineering." I shouldn't have applied this directly to you - just the overall structure of the DC.

That's probably just me though. I have a short fuse and a thin skin.

I apologize for speaking for the entire east side.

Since I have left the east side, I could careless how D5 is run. I can't honestly don’t see the east side improving in such a way that it will attract new families who have a choice about where they live to make their choice the east side.

I really just liked messing with you.

Take care and Merry Christmas.
