Disgusting, absoloutly disgusting. Someday these leaders are going to pay the price for their assaults on the taxpayers. Wether it be lawsuit judgements or voted out of office, I don't think they're going to get off just walking away from their actions.

Bob any update on that judge and wife hasseled down at the Minneapolis impound ?

That was one of the most heartbreaking things I have ever seen. 63 years old, content in his home, and the city will bankrupt him rather than let him live in a house of poor condition.

I have driven that street hundreds of times and never noticed his home (it cannot be THAT bad). I am going to drive it again.

Without seeing his home, I will bet anyone $100 it is nicer than my in-laws home. Of course they live on a farm where they don't have to worry about a busy-body government. This is shameful.

Did I miss something. Number 62 right? 1369 Case? A real estate investor that lives in Golden Valley that has owned this house since at least 2005 as rental property? That is the one we are talking about right?

So, he gets demo orders in January, gets a hearing in April, gets it extended to May and now he is in front of the council claiming that he doesn't know nothing about nothing right? That's the "senior begs City Council not to demolish his home." And didn't they tell him they would extend it again if he would get up and get the work done they asked for a month ago?

Give me a break. At least this guy could chip in with the other land lords that are paying for the suit and not try and con the council.

Bill, and Bob check the property tax records before you side with another con man.

Help me Bob, am I looking at the wrong one?

They just offered a real estate investor another extension.

What in the F did you want them to do kiss his ass for not fixing his property.

What in the heck are they suppose to do? Its been five months and he is still playing games.

Bob - this place has been vacant for a year. If the city doesn't go after this guy you guys will say that the City is playing favorites.

It looks like it has been rental for a long time. The guy lives in the western burbs and probably has more of this crap. But he shows up in the council meeting and tries to pretend that he doesn't know squat about what is going on and the council once again gives him more time.

Nobody here gives a damn about the people who have to live next door to this guy's investment and watch their life savings go down the drain because he won't fix his rental.

Chuck, If Dave can have 30 years to fix his house, this guy should have at least 3 years to fix his home.

Linked below is a photo of the administrative hearing officer briefing the city council on this issue.

Bob - this thread starts as how evil the City Council is for holding this con-man accountable (and they barely do that). So, I point out that fact that he isn't some poor senior being booted out of his house, but an owner of rental property that hasn't gotten around fixing his place for more than a year (been on the vacant list since May of 2007) and the best you can do is bring up old news about Thune....

You're better than that Bob. I know you know that Thune is your best vote on the council.

How's about something new and do I get Bill's $100 or do I settle for him to buy lunch next time?

Just one comment on your pal Thune Bob. Did you notice that once again the two buildings in his Ward that the City wants demo'ed he laid over both of them? Both of them for the second time.

Back to my standing challenge.

The guy has been on the Council for 12 years and 4 months. Find me one building in Ward 2 during all of that time where an owner asked for more time and he didn't give them more time.

The most recent one mentioned here was the on on Cliff Street that he held up the demo for two years.

And that is the guy you all love to piss on.

I notice that you prefeace your BULLSHIT with the fact that this is a real estate investor Chuck. Doesn that make him something less than everyone else in this country? Do you think he doesn't ahve rights because he's an investor? Maybe a conservative and a republican instead of a liberal out looking to pick everyones pockets for some "just cause?"

Your side is losing Repke. People are sick and tired of having their homes screwed with. How much do you want to bet Chuck that by the end of the summer the number of people suing the city triples? How about $100.00 and Bob holds the money?

Chuck, what did Dave do to help Rita Rodriquez and Gary Tanzer?

Why hasn't he pushed for tenants remaining in the house while work is being done? As we seen as of lately Johnny Howard's tenants were facing the street due to a city condemnation.

I will look for Tony the veterans city council video so the citizens can see another man bewildered why the city would want him to pay $15,000 for demolishing his house when he had no control over it.

Tony had spent upwards of $40,000 on repairs before the demolition order. Hey this happened to Nancy too. The other side of this story is the long term impact of financial ruin this rouge bunch deals out to citizens. IT DESTROYS THEIR FAMILIES AND LIVES! Of coarse morally bankrupt folks wouldn't understand this.

And Chuck the performance bonds, attorney fees in some cases and all those other fees the city throws at these home owners would be better spent repairing the house.Of coarse then the city would have less frosting for the CAKE.

I said this last night and deleted it. I have had a 3rd. thought and will post it now.

Stevie Boy and Company, Maria, Kathy, Dave, Lee, Dan, Pat, Melvin and Russ, you are all morally BANKRUPT.

I'll link Tony the veterans video from the archives later today. I have a full day today, however, I will make time to look at this case ave. home.

There are some types of work that you don't need a permit to do. I notice Marcia Moermond left out the description of what work he was doing. Probably more mis-statements and deceptions as usual.

8:42 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Anyone who's ever been to one of those Legislative Hearings knows it's nothing but a sham and a bunch of lies to make their position seem more defensible and Moermond is nothing more than a "sock puppet" for a certain city council member. I think she's practicing law without a license and should be prosecuted for it.

Nancy, it is pretty simple...

1. The state maintains basic powers to protect public health and safety... right out of the preamble of the constitution. It is one of the basic reasons for the government.

2. He has not "harmed" anyone, there is a public health issue on his land.

3. The City is not removing him from his "home" his "home" is in Golden Valley. What the City intends to do is to abate a public health nuisance and charge the land owner for it.

Bob - what and when do Rita and Gary ask for help. Give me a date of when they were on an agenda, so I can see. Johnie's stuff is in Ward 1 not 2 Bob.

Oh My God someone has been talking to my ex-wife, (lol) you do know I was divorced in 1985... you realy got to be looking to be calling her up.

The more you go personally after me, it only proves how lame your arguements are kids. I mean just like this one... a poor senior being kick out of his home...my ass!

What house is that because it is not the house that we are talking about. That is not 1369 Case.

Bob,

1369 Case is a white two story house with several boarded windows on the first floor and a broken window on the upstairs east side. I was over their looking at it this morning. It is about a block east of Johnson Parkway up on a hill.

No matter what you say here, it really doesn't matter. Things are going to stay the same with the city.

The culture is such that there can't be change, with over 40 years of liberal control of city.

Chuck says what he says because he has the power structure behind him.

Hell, Chuck could say the moon is pink and he would be correct.

You all are just wasting your time. All this BS is not going to change anything. This was proven to me today during a conversation with a city official today. Sure you may take the city to court, but do you really think you are going to win? The city will drag this out and even if they loose, you are still out lots of $ and you don’t even know it yet.

The cards are so stacked against any form of change. Why would it change, they have the power and they aren’t going to give it up. Look at all of the talk about Thune's house. Thune is in the power. Post all the pictures of Thune's house here and NOTHING will happen. Sure he will get a letter from the city and make some newsprint, but in the end he will skate. Look at the complaints against Thune’s house that were squashed by a supervisor in Fire.

You are stupid if you think you are going to change the system they have in place. Look at how arrogant the city council was when they took the vote to tear down this house on Case. The council showed no compassion, why should they, as you are just a number to them. Chuck comes here and defends Thune and the city because he is in the power click. Repke and Thune are a protected class of people, haven’t you figured that out? When are you all going to wake up?

The public does not care what you all are doing here, to them they are just trying to survive. The city does not care, all they want is your money. If you don't pay, they take your house. If you complain they play games with code enforcement and take your house. If you are a crackhead and the cops can't catch you, they take your house. As Chuck has said here many times, the house is not property, just the land is. So in the end all you are left with after they tear down your house is an empty lot with a tax bill (tax lien on the property) for $15,000.00 for tearing down your house. The city gets paid for tearing down your house. The city doesn’t loose, haven’t you figured that out yet. Writing here, publishing pictures, whining will not bring change anything. Look at the last election. The powers that be stay in power, right Chuck?

Singing off, good luck to all.

Bob, it’s been fun.

OK - I am the one spinning... right.

Bob posts this BS that this is a senior losing his home and Bill chimes in that it is the City that won't let this guy live in his house, when the facts are that it is rental property that has been vacant for more than a year. Sure sounds like I am spinning...

And now Bob posts pictures of some other house that has nothing to do with this case, like it was what we are talking about...

Ya, I'm spinning... my head is spinning trying to keep up with the BS here.

I disagree with you Q. Cities lose all the time and all you have to do is look at the 8th Federal Circuit Appeals Court to see it. Cities do change because the jusgements they get against them force them to change. I know some of the lanldords suing and there is information that hasn't been made public yet. When it is, some people are going to go to jail. Huge judgements and jail WILL bring about a change. Thee are many there are many others preparing to sue the city at this very minute for the same things the landlords are. The city is the only loser by dragging it out as you mention. Every time they cause another delay is more evidence that is uncovered and more people that are interviewed and figuring out that they have a case against the city also. Don't be so quick to write this whole thing off. It's going to get very interesting in the next year.

So let me get this straight Repke....word gets out that this guy is in distress yesterday and this morning you're out circling his lot like a buzzrd looking for a shiney object. This doesn't look good for you Chuck.

Hmm. This is frustrating. I have been misled and I did not verify the facts. Yes investors have rights, but this guy did not present himself as an investor. He was clear about being homeless if he loses this home. He was clear that he had 7 years left on the mortgage and would not be able to afford a home during that period if this home was knocked down.

I am not arguing the home should be knocked down, but I am angry that he misled us about living there.

Now that Chuck describes the house, I think I have noticed it (just to the West of the industrial buildings?). I think I might owe Chuck $100.

I agree Chuck; I was misled. That investor put on a heck of a performance.

Bill Cullen.

That is the one Bill.

The interesting thing on this one is that when you look it up there has been very few complaints on it because it only has one neighbor. I'm guessing if the guy was straight with Bostrom and had a repair plan we would give it an extension, but he'd rather run a bunch of BS.

And for the guy asking questions about why I went by the place, I drive Johnson Parkway to Maryland every morning not tough to drive a block out of the way to see what the fuss was.

Hi All,

Many of you know I was sent these photos by someone else. We all know this because we were on the same email list of these photos.I didn't have time to go and look at the house and someone volunteered.

NOW, I have seen the house and in light of this con mans sob story to the city council, and the condition of the house, I wouldn't feel one bit sorry if this guy's house was demolished.

I will do my own feild work in the future.

Thanks Chuck..

Nancy - "Takings" concern "real property" LAND. The public maintains the ability to take for public purposes land. When the state does that it is required under the fifth amendment to pay just compensation.

The courts in this state and others has ruled consistantly that the state has the ability to remove health hazards to protect the public health. Once a structure is declared vacant and in violation of the code, it becomes a public health risk. It is no longer an improvement to the property it is a health hazard. At that point when the City comes in and removes the health hazard from the property it bills the land owner for the cleaning.

These hearings at the council make that determination and then the land owner may still appeal to the courts.

But then the landlords would keep renting to African Americans and the city doesn't want that! They want em gone gone gone. On the "reservation" so to speak at the PHA where they can keep an eye on them.
