Hi All,

I found some of the comments at Twincities.com amusing.

Statements like dump Dave. Statements referring to the incumbents as commies. I wonder how many twincities.com readers are also reading here. Heaven only knows how often I have left a link there to our Town Hall meeting here. :-)

Got an interesting responce in phone polling last night. A voter on the West Side was "strongly against" Thune because he was to easy on "Absentee Property Owners." I thought everyone here would appreciate that.

Chuck, this man was speaking from the minority position of the few who attend neighborhood meetings.

This small number of citizens involved in neighborhood district councils and block clubs ARE NOT representative of the masses. He was probably a HOSKO flunky brain washed into hysteria.

OK Bob, so does that mean in a contest between Thune and Hosko you will support Thune?

I don't know if either you or Dave could handle that situation...

Wow...

As to those two buildings, there is no way that either will be demo'ed while Thune is on the Council. The head house was purchased by the HRA as a part of the Sheppard Road development and I watched Thune tear up the first effort to demo it. For those who don't know, the historic nature of that building is that it was the first "co-op" grain elevator in the United States. To lose it is to lose a piece of Saint Paul's and our nation's past.

The power plant is in private ownership but still they would need permits to take it down. One thing that protects it, is that it is in the flood plain and you would never be allowed to build another building of that size on the site. So, even though nobody has been able to make a go of it yet, the chance for redevelopment on the site is better with the building than without it. Again, I don't think Thune would ever let the demo of that building get on the Council agenda.

I have put it out there before, that I haven't seen one case yet in Ward 2 where if the owners (not a meth lab) showed up and asked for an (one) extention on a demo order that Thune didn't get them an extention. He is the most reluctant to demo of anyone on the council.

Sorry Sharon, Gloria is the treasurer of the Thune Volunteer Committee. You must have seen her post on SPIF where she was noted that Zamb's web site has pictures of Minneapolis instead of Saint Paul.

OK, I'll do my prediction for the Primary:

Thune 60%
Hosko 20%
Zamb 15%
Anderson 4%
Dahn 1%

Let's see how well I do.

the developer of the old power plant get any interest in buyers because that smoke stack is turning off potentail buyers. it is to costly to remove and still make the units affordable.

I hope that the people of St.Paul
will stop voting for the same old
bull shit. And elect some new people to offices. And chuck you
and Dave should both look for new jobs. When I air my report on the internet in the next couple of days. No one not will elect any of city council members. Because they cause the real estate problems
in St.Paul. I have discussed this
problem with Dave two years early.

His answer was so what. Well so what. when you do not get elect
dave. And chuck you need to get a real job and stop getting a free ride for hard working taxespayers.

If work like I do. You would care about how the city council passed
bull shit laws and not following them. It should be one standare.
For all persons of the city of St.Paul. Not different rules for other persons.

My name is Leslei K. Lucht.
Yes, I am a Landlord too and I work
real job too.

So, chuck stop ripping me off.
Get real job...

I know Les and he has darn nice properties. He is not a slumlord. What's with that anyways....as soon as someome does not like something that someone says, right away they start calling him a slumlord.

Hi All,

I have met with Les. He is a good landlord and a blue collar kind of guy who works a 40 hour a week job on top of being a successful landlord.

He has concerns about our city. He is a former state delegate and active in civic affairs.

He is not a slumlord. In fact he is just the opposite. He has invested greatly in all his properties. Les owns a good part of a neighborhood in Frogtown.

Multiple rental properties. He keeps his properties well maintained and in one area of Frogtown so he can keep an eye on them.

Let's just say Les is the kind of guy who won't run from a fight and he feels he has a fight on his hands.

He'd probably be here commenting on the statements addressed to him, but I happen to know he is at work at his blue collar job.

I happen to live on the block where Les owns properties and his management and upkeep of them is A+

Sorry, but this is not a slumlord.

I've known Les Lucht for years and talk to him often, and I can tell you he is NOT a slumlord. Nice try, but for those of us who know him, we know better.
