Sheriff 'dealing with it' as a personnel issue

An objectionable e-mail sent by a Dakota County sheriff's deputy to a smattering of police officers throughout the county has made waves in the department over the past few weeks.
The correspondence, a copy of which has been obtained by the Pioneer Press, was a short joke sent by Sheriff's deputy Tim Gonder on March 15 to a few dozen addresses, most of which are issued by Dakota County cities.
Sheriff Dave Bellows said he knew of the e-mail and was "dealing with it."
It is now a personnel issue, he said, so he couldn't comment further, other than to say, "I'm very disappointed this thing was sent out."
The e-mail's subject line, "FOX News bows to the pressure," was followed by this sentence:
"In response to President (Barack) Obama's complaint that FOX News doesn't show enough Black and Hispanic people on their network, FOX has announced that they will now air 'America's Most Wanted' TWICE a week."
Gonder, reached at home by telephone, referred all questions about the incident to Bellows.
A county law enforcement official, who did not want to be named, said the following about the e-mail:
"This is just moving racial relations in this department back to the '60s. This is the disturbing mindset of some of the people who stop and pull over the fine residents of the county, including persons of color."

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.
It has been in the news time and again the sheriffs department in Dakota Co. targets minorities(section 8 renters). It appears they are attempting to gentrify their neighborhoods.
Seems like where ever you go whites in positions of power are attempting to run minorities out of their communities. Institutional racism is flourishing.
Most cops have this attitude and that's why he thought it was OK to send it out.
Bob
WSP just don't want the poor in their neighborhoods, color is not a factor in this even though they think they can rid WSP of any illegal's
That sound like St.Paul.

This is the norm and nothing will ever get done to change it. If you try and find anything out about it they classify it as an employee issue or some other bogus title so they can then hide behind data privacy to cover it up.
Deputy Gonder is an amazing deputy sheriff and we would all benefit if there were more like him doing the police work in the world. I wish you knew the background details on this story, they would make you furious that it even made the paper. What a shame to judge a person for something we read in a silly newspaper article
If you know him have him come here and enlighten us with the truth.
