Health Care passed Congress! What you should know about the government health care plan

I think the whole deal STINKS. I have NEVER had health care insurance in my life. I pay cash when I have to see the dentist or doctor. To think I am being told I HAVE to have health care insurance or else.

And on another note. I have NEVER believed in our banking system. I pay cash for everything I buy. I wouldn't dream of paying some ass wipe finance company interest on moneys borrowed just to have immediate gratification of purchasing something I want. SO old uncle Sam won't be accessing my bank accounts.

National ID! Come and arrest me now you bastards! I'm not complying with any of your bullshit!

Bob,
You only pay a portion of your health care. If you ever go to the emergency room (and you have with your wife and son before), your real costs are covered by those of us who pay into health care.

The cost of those uninsured who use the system, is spread out among those of us who pay for insurance.

There is no government-run plan! Its all private insurance carriers. There is no public option. 40 million more people will widen to purchase pool and therefore, in a capitalistic way, lower cost for insurance.

Most bankruptcies over the last 12 years have been due to medical costs.

45,000 people a year die prematurely due to a lack of health care.

Nobody in America should go broke because they get sick, or die because they are not insured.

Break the law if you want.

This is what happens immediatly with the Health Care bill- tell us what you think is unimportant Bob:

Changes happening immediately:

1. Adult children may remain as dependents on their parents’ policy until their 27th birthday
2. Children under age 19 may not be excluded for pre-existing conditions
3. No more lifetime or annual caps on coverage
4. Free preventative care for all
5. Adults with pre-existing conditions may buy into a national high-risk pool until the exchanges come online. These pools won’t be cheap, but they are still a lot better than being excluded. And there is expected to be some advantage due to the wider pool of the uninsured.
6. Small businesses will be entitled to a tax credit for 2009 and 2010, which could be as much as 50 percent of what they pay for their employees’ health insurance.
7. The “doughnut hole” closes for Medicare patients, making prescription medications more affordable for seniors. The government would offer a $250 rebate to Medicare beneficiaries to help pay their prescription drug costs when they hit the “doughnut hole.” Next year, Medicare beneficiaries would see a 50 percent discount on brand-name drugs to further close that gap.
8. All insurers will be required to post balance sheets on the Internet and fully disclose administrative costs, executive compensation packages, and benefit payments.
9. Authorizes early funding of community health centers in all 50 states (Bernie Sanders’ amendment). Community health centers provide primary, dental and vision services to people in the community, based on a sliding scale for payment according to ability to pay.
10. No more rescissions. Effective immediately, you can’t lose your insurance because you get sick.
11. Effective immediately would be a 10 percent tax on tanning salon services, which opponents say would lead to higher costs for indoor bronzing.

My response;
I don't go to the emergency room. I make an appointment with my doctor. And when my kid was still at home and hit by a car riding bicycle I paid for the ambulance and hospital cost out of my pocket. You or nobody else contributed to my health care or my immediate families health care.

We didn't need this outrageous intrusive heath care plan, all we needed is some changes to current policy's.

Example-
The emergency room visit is abused. Folks without health care coverage are told to come to the emergency room for health care even when it isn't an emergency. The cost for an emergency room visit is far above a scheduled appointment with a doctor.

Eric, TAX's are being raised to pay for this shit. The government isn't doing anyone a favor. It is just another way to grow government and control our freedoms.

Eric said;

My response;
Folk's, don't take my word or Eric s word for any of this crap. Listen to the video then go to the pdf of the plan. Decide for yourselves.

Eric said;

My response;
It is my responsibility to break unjust laws. You can bet I will do my part! Another example of this is. I rarely if ever wait for a pedestrian in a crosswalk of a dangerously busy street.

Bob, the video is pure unadulterated garbage. Health care rationing, panels that decide benefits... lies, lies and bigger lies.

They distort a discussion in the bill about subsidies for the poor and turn it into caps for all insurance payments. The discussion of getting access to services for those who don't have any is made to sound like a death panel. So, sad and so sick and designed to take dupes like you and con them into voting against their own interest.

Do the rich fat cats totally own your soul Bob?

Don't you ever get tired off sucking up to these wealth bastards Bob?

The Health Insurance industry is paying for this garbage Bob with money that those of us who have health insurance have to pay for our health insurance.

There is already health rationing and it comes from the insurance industry that says which treatment will and will not be paid for.

And, yes Bob you "cash" payers are subsidised by all of us on insurance, because you never have enough money when they take you out in a box.

Bob,
My facts come from the bill which I did get a chance to read most of this weekend. The current state come from Health and Human Services.

I've listed the 11 things that go into effect immediately- what is socialist and communist that you don't like? I don't want to hear what you think will happen down the road- you've got a list of what goes into effect- what are you against?

Currently, the health insurance companies decide who lives and who dies no matter if you pay your premiums on time every month for 30 years. They decide if you will get surgery or not. They decide how much they will spend on you and if they should kick you off when you actually have to use insurance. This is your death panel.

Poor people got Medicaid. Old people got Medicare. Both have supplemental support in their individual states. Where is the support for working and middle class people who find themselves in unfortunate situations? No one is getting anything for free.

Illegals are not able to utilize this- express specifically. Abortion is banned from being used by this.

The non-partisan CBO which never goes with the Democrats programs came out and said this will lower our deficit by trillion dollars over time.

Your own crime fight formula includes steps for prevention. Getting kids into things so they don't find themselves in gangs and other non-productive groups.

Prevention works in health care too. Finding problems early- is cheaper than handling medical problems later.

Again- go through the list of 11 and take out what you think is unimportant- we can have a discussion.

Bob, just for an example near (28) the begining of the video it says Rationing... on page 29 lines 9-14 it limits the amount of service you will be able to receive to $5,000 per person $10,000 per family.

Go to page 29! That is the section on how much is the Maximum that people buying into the exchange program will PAY FOR HEALTH COVERAGE!!!

READ THE DAMN THING!!!

It is the "cost sharing for essential benefits" section.

I pay $1,100 a month for health partners, $13,200 a year. For someone who is lower income and is not insured that bought into this plan they could get onto the gov assisted plan for $5,000!

Get it?

Read the Bill.

I didn't post it because I just knew this stuff would pass no matter what any citizen had to say.

It also doesn't appear to be linked to the actually bill that passed. I think what was linked was the house bill that passed a long time ago, not the senate bill they just passed.

And, Sharron as to the law suits on this, they are pointless. The mandate of insurance coverage isn't a mandate of coverage.... it is a tax credit if you have coverage. So, if you don't buy health insurance you pay more taxes. No fine, no mandate, just no tax credit.

Again, what part of the list of immediate changes I listed do you disagree with or think is taking away your freedom- or better yet, you think the American people will fight to repeal?

When you get pass the rhetoric, spitting, name-calling and such, these are changes that are needed to protect the consumer.

The guy that's paying 1000/month for his family plan will continue to pay that or less. Now, his insurance company can't put a cap on what they'll pay for his service and cannot throw him or family off for what they deem as preconceived conditions.

In four years, he'll be able to compare what he pays to what other plans have to offer and then choose the best one.

Where is the problem?

WHERE ARE YOU PEOPLE WHO REQUESTED THIS TOPIC?

I can not debate this bill line by line, I haven't read it. I don't have the time to read it.

Although, I didn't need to read the bill to understand there is a great deal about it that will effect the way I "CHOOSE" to live my life!

You talk about how much money the bill will save you Chuck. For me it is a lose lose proposition. I do what I can to live a healthy life style. I do not get SICK! I am frugal. I have a nest egg for health emergency's and retirement.
The health emergency's include my dog. :)

Now I am suppose to take my retirement and share it with the government so people like you can save money Chuck! Fuck all you guys! And add government intrusion into my life making me a criminal if I don't comply. Your party is a bunch of "control freaks" Chuck!

If someone will take the time to link the bill that would be nice. Sharon your link didn't work so I deleted it. Thanks for trying.

This whole subject makes me want to vomit. I have lost faith in either the Republicans or Democrats. George Orwell's 1984 is upon us!

By the way, you know what the citizens should do with all the public cameras?

Relocate them in front of the homes of politicians, because it's the polticians that need to be watched, not the American citizens!

If you already have employer-provided insurance you can keep it. If you do not currently have any insurance you may have to purchase a plan by 2014. Beginning in 2014 most Americans would have to purchase health care insurance or be forced to pay a fine, although it states that there is no enforcement (meaning you won't go to jail but, you won't get your tax refund or lottery winnings either). If someone already has insurance (including through their employer) they would not need to worry about this provision. For those who would be affected they could purchase insurance from anywhere but if they do not they would need to pay either $750 or 2% of their income, whichever is greater (that's a year. That's 60.00/month).

Exemptions would be granted for those in financial hardship which is measured using the poverty line.

Individuals who make between 100%-400% above the federal poverty level would be eligible to receive credits to assist them in purchasing health care insurance. The amount of credit would generally go down the more income an individual made. For the poorest the credit may pay for all of their health care premiums.

So, now what's your problem?
You do not have enough saved up for cancer, heart attack, major car accident. So stop saying that. All that easily run into six figures without insurance- and if you fall out on the sidewalk guess who foots that bill?- Those of us who've been paying the ever increasing premiums.

Take your stance but don't bullshit us that you are completely independent- even rich people purchase insurance because its a good risk investment over straight cash for services. Rush Limbaugh has 100 million dollars, a career of slamming the government but, when he had his heart problems earlier this year- we found out he paid for insurance and didn't object to the government ran hospital. Same damn thing with Dick Cheney who use his government supplied public option package over the one he earned in the private sector.

Tell us, how did you pay off your wife's medical bills from just last year (which I hope she recovering well and keeping your tail in line). A
re you really going to tell me you dropped between $40,000 and $70,000 in cash?

My response;
Eric we are not married. I am not responsible for my ole lady's health care. She had insurance and that is used up so now she gets GA medical. I am supporting her cost of living.

Last year while working on my race car I had an injury that pulled the flesh off the end of my little finger from the nail down with the bone exposed. The flesh was still attached by a small piece. I didn't go to the doctor and waste my money. I maned up and taped it back in place. If the flesh appeared it wasn't getting blood I would of seen a doctor. It healed well.

Fact is I am totally self dependant. Go ahead throw away your yearly cost of insurance when you could be investing that money to build a nest egg.

I won't be dishing out any of my hard earned money to pay for yours and Chucks discounted health care cost.

10:37 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

You won't be paying for mine. You will be paying for your girlfriends health care and Bill Dahn's health care and other guys like you. You'll be added to the pool and help relieve the cost the rest of us have been paying for you.

I've got a question for you- How do you have a 'nest egg' retirement but, said in the first sentence of the second paragraph that--
"I have NEVER believed in our banking system. I pay cash for everything I buy. I wouldn't dream of paying some ass wipe finance company interest on moneys borrowed just to have immediate gratification of purchasing something I want. SO old uncle Sam won't be accessing my bank accounts. "
-- then you said
--"Go ahead throw away your yearly cost of insurance when you could be investing that money to build a nest egg."---

What are you investing in and how are you doing it without using the American banking system?

I don't know what kind of business guy you are but, a person who works with their hands like you do, and not having insurance in case something happens (like ripping the flesh from your entire hand) seems irresponsible toward your love ones and those who depend on you. One accident, and your broke. One bout with cancer and you're dead. At the very least, you should have something so that your dependents/or love ones aren't taken underwater just because of one accident.

Sticking your money in a mattress is Bill Dahn nuts. Conservative investments that may have yielded only 2% over the last six years is still better than leaving your money in some buried mason jar depreciating. Look at what has happened to the dollar in the last ten years. C'mon man. Get real.

Anyway, after reading this, you'd probably be 100% exempt from purchasing insurance or being fined. But, if you get hit by a car or fall off a ladder, don't be surprised if you're sharing a Suburu wagon with Bill Dahn as a home.

You've had your right not to insure yourself but, we have a right to not have to pay for continuing rising rates because guys like you only go to the emergency room and have no primary care physician. Too many of you have done it on our backs and its over.

(Ask Cinn, how much that hospital stay was- I think you'll be shocked out of your pants)

Good advice to all, buy gold and silver as much as you can afford to buy. Any kind of gold & silver. Scrap rings, coins, silverware you name it. No matter how tough your personal financial situation gets hang onto it and do what you have to do to earn a living. By the time you are old the appreciation of your investment will be well worth the effort. Don't keep it at home! Keep it in a safe place where thieves and Uncle Sam can't put their grubby mitts on it.

Years ago, I had a box of checks stolen from me. The scumbag cashed checks all over Minnesota for booze, food, and gas. I went through a living hell, accused of the bounced checks. Financial issues of businesses wanting compensation for the bad checks. Credit problems. This and other issues have formed my opinion of banking.

Eric said;

My response;
My family will not be burdened with any debt of mine.

Let's face it Eric, most of us go through life and never ever have a major medical problem. I play the odds. And the odds favor my way of life. The insurance companies play the odds too, that is what has made them a lucrative business.

I just had to come back and say this.

Cinnamon is not able to work and she was denied social security. A program she has paid into all her working life. Social security denies over 85% of all applicant
1st time they apply. The percentage goes up on appeals. Fact is there really isn't any money to help citizens. The burden on the social security institution far exceeds the programs original intent.

All of us know how the government has managed social security. What makes anyone think they can do a better job at health care?

Personally I seen how bad off our social security system was years ago and have never planned I would grow old and receive any of the money back I have paid in.

America was built on freedom and part of that freedom is being free of government oppression. We want the freedom to decide what health insurance we want (if we want insurance at all). Not to be forced into a program designed to help a mere 10% of our population while bringing the rest of our population to a lower level of care. Oh ya, and don't forget that those who have sacrificed their time, energy, and money to become successful will once again be punished for being successful just because they have better insurance. Doesn't matter that the more the Dems kick the rich in the teeth, the more of their money goes off shore, they just want to stick it to anybody who doesn't fit into their mold of people needing help.

In every single unbias poll, you'll see that the vast majority of Americans don't want this. But of course us unwashed masses don't know what's good for us so the Dems with their supposed brilliance must become our babysitters and make our decisions for us.

Free from government oppression? Where the hell were you when they were signing into law the Patriot Act which allowed the government to listen in on ALL phone conversation and internet correspondence?

Anyway, you hit the nail on the head about this law. It NOW gives people a choice of insurance companies- ALL PRIVATE NONE PUBLIC. It also gives you an opt out- but you still have to pay a tax for opting out because the odds are, you will take advantage of health system.

I don't know where you read on the founding of this country but, I remember the first President passing an executive order that every man over 20 must purchase a musket and keep a certain amount of powder and balls in his sack at all times. It was punishable by imprisonment- and George Washington wasn't kidding about that. Yep, from the beginning the government saw their job to tell you what you MUST purchase for the overall good.

Oh ya, and don't forget that those who have sacrificed their time, energy, and money to become successful will once again be punished for being successful just because they have better insurance.

Those of us who have insurance- will soon have a lower premium because of the bigger pool of applicants and if we keep our payments up, our insurance cannot deny us coverage, or cap our lifetime amount (that's the death panel kicking in. Telling doctors what they can do based on their bottom line instead of our health needs). Also, no more deny children for pre-existing conditions. If we pay for the service, we will now get it. In exchange, they get 32 million new customers.

Doesn't matter that the more the Dems kick the rich in the teeth, the more of their money goes off shore, they just want to stick it to anybody who doesn't fit into their mold of people needing help.

Bush blew up the deficit with two tax cuts for the top 2%. Then we find out that 66% (2 out of 3) American companies find a way out of paying federal taxes. What if 66% of individuals found a way out of their taxes? How about some fairness.

The tax rate is being rolled back to what it was in the 90's. You know, back when the country was producing the strongest economy in our history.

In every single unbias poll, you'll see that the vast majority of Americans don't want this. But of course us unwashed masses don't know what's good for us so the Dems with their supposed brilliance must become our babysitters and make our decisions for us.

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.
The Democrats ran on many issues including universal health care and won big in 2006 and even bigger in 2008 with a President who also ran on universal health care. This is what they ran and won on.

After a year of lying about government take overs, death panels, abortion for all, and socialism- the less educated, plain stupid, and genuine conservatives were fired up and tried to change the agenda.

After finding out what's in the bill most like it- MOST.

Now, cite me ONE poll that say a majority of Americans don't want this. Just one. Even through all of the rancor, and town halls, health reform has remained popular. You're lying about that too.

You'd do yourself a favor by actually reading the law. Unless your objective is to keep the ignorant ignorant, then you're in the right place.

Its the law, get over it. The Republican won't repeal it, because it is popular and they don't even have of their members behind repeal.

Cinnamon is not able to work and she was denied social security. A program she has paid into all her working life.

Bob, it takes three workers to support one person on social security. Unless she worked 50 years and can live on 10% of what she made, then its not her money.

Social security denies over 85% of all applicant
1st time they apply. The percentage goes up on appeals.

Because the main purpose of it is for seniors who have worked their whole life. Disability is another use but, so many abuse it that the line has to be drawn somewhere. If you're telling me that 15% of the people on social security are not seniors- I'd say that's pretty good. We have other programs for non-seniors who cannot take care of themselves or their dependents.

Fact is there really isn't any money to help citizens. The burden on the social security institution far exceeds the programs original intent.

There are many reasons for that burden, the main one being that its just so many Boomers moving into retirement and disability.

All of us know how the government has managed social security. What makes anyone think they can do a better job at health care?

Yes. 3% overhead, overwhelming satisfaction from seniors and a no checks being lost or long lines to stand in.

Once again, the medicaid that your lady is on is government health care. THIS new law, is private insurance still providing the service. Government is not running it- but, don't let the facts stop your rant.

I'm still waiting for you to tell us which tangent of the law you have a problem with or how much was Cinn's total cost last year. Like I said, when she tells you, maybe you'll understand that something needed to be done.

Since Obama has been in office, the Dow Jones market has risen 40%. That's right, 40%! So, all the money you lost under Bush, is back and better. Its a much better investment than silverware.

Eric, I am not the only one who thinks you Democrats have lost your way on this one. The majority of American do too.

Democrats at the top of our government are a lot like the Democrats here in Saint Paul. Listen to what the Heritage Foundation has to say. I posted a new topic. More of the truth.

11:44 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

The Heritage Foundation is a right wing think tank that has been wrong on more things in the past year alone that I'm surprised that they are still raising money.

Its the same group that brought us the type of government that led us into two wars of that were just budgeting for now, two massive tax cuts for the top 2%, that we're paying for now, deregulation of the banking system which led to the bailouts that we're paying for now and ignoring the rising and punitive cost of health care which we're doing something about.

The Heritage Foundation is the ultimate right wing propaganda machine. I notice a lot of words from him but nothing in the bill that the find offensive- or, nothing specific about how its unconstitutional. After all, it passed the exact same way the Republicans passed two major tax cuts and altered the entire economy by using it to pass the 2005 Deficit Reduction Act (which it did the opposite- increased the deficit to a record level), and the 1995 Budget Act. Its called majority rules. And, while Dems cried about it- we were in the minority and that's how it goes. Americans voted for Democrats two times in a row. Majority rules.

He mentioned something about republican attorney generals suing (he didn't say so but its based on the 10th Amendment and mandates) but, its a waste of tax dollars. Why? Because in the bill there is an OPT-OUT clause for any governor to sign. Virginia has already done it (yet the AG is still trying to sue).

See? If you take the time to read this stuff yourself, the law that is, you won't have to rely on those with other agendas like some 70 year old former republican staffer who runs a propaganda org- no, THE main propaganda organization on the Right.

Oh yeah, I notice him and other Republicans are saying that reform is needed. You know why? Because the American DO want reform. We delivered it and the Rpeublicans didn't. Repeal is already being backed down by Congressional republicans (they only ones who can vote on it) because Health Reform is popular and they don't have enough votes to support.

However, they will continue to talk the talk and fund raise over it.

Think about this Bob- how does repeal really work? Do you know?

– Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ): “Our view is that we should repeal and replace the bill with the solutions that we think actually work. Obviously, the president will not sign a repeal bill that the Congress passes, so that’s more of a symbol. … Barack Obama is president. He would never sign a repeal law. We don’t have the votes to get it passed right now. We’re not going to waste our time on that.”

– Newt Gingrich: “What you have to do is be politically honest. If the Republicans win a majority in the House and Senate next year, they will not be able to repeal the bill. The president would veto it.”

They ain't gonna do shit but talk a lot and get the stupid to send their money and post their bullshit.

They don't have a majority to repeal anything. They don't have a President to sign a repeal. So, they won't be doing shit. Just like you.
