A St. Paul city office was burglarized during the holiday weekend and about $14,000 of goods was stolen, police said today.

Five computers, a DVD player and a television were among items taken from the Department of Safety and Inspections, said Bob Kessler, department director.

The information on the computers was public data, so there is no risk of private data being released, Kessler said.

The building at 8 E. Fourth St. that houses the department is under construction and the main door was open, but the burglar or burglars forced entry into the city's offices, Kessler said.

A briefcase that looked like a laptop case also was stolen, Kessler said. Inside were nameplates used for the Business Review Council, he said.

No arrests have been made, police said.

It was the third burglary of department offices in as many years, but this one was the worst, Kessler said.

The data on those computers also contains the softwaqre to be able to access the city server where all the private data is stored. Shouldn't take long for someone to hack the pass word on it.....that is if they realize what they have.

two things came to mind when I read this.

1. DSI arranged the burglary to destroy evidence in light of the new Morris/Sax decision.

2. The RICO guys arranged the burglary looking for evidence in the RICO case.

In this cloak and dagger city anything is possible.

And I think that 9:19 is a little bitter and jealous of Nancy with some pent up hostility torwards strong, intelligent women. You go girl. Flight or Fight. It looks as though you are not going anywhere. Keep your dukes up. As far as "getting a life", I've seen Nancy and think it looks pretty darn full to me. I think I am a fairly good judge on what constitutes a happy life! Nancy, we should get together for a girl's night out with some laughter at the postings put out here.
