Hi All,

Mr. Schilling and his attorney Andy Dawkins went before the city council today for the second time in 2 weeks to try and save the building at 785 University. There is an order to repair or remove the building in 15 days.

PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO LINE 36 OF RESOLUTIONS AT THE CITY WEBSITE.

I was astounded at Andy Dawkins persistence. I feel nasty all over thinking he done a pretty good job.

For the love of money I can't understand why Johnson of Diva's and Schilling hired Andy.
Schilling is a friend to many landlords I know, and I'm sure he is probably a friend to many I don't know. He had to of been informed of Dawkins role in housing and certainly Deb Johnson knew she is active in our group.

I don't know what is going on but this stuff never ceases to interest me.

I want to thank Dave Thune. Dave put a human face on this issue and made some statements that were very reasonable. Maybe Chuck has been right about you all along. For the moment you make me feel bad I have been so hard on you.

Carter and Stark.. Are you guys really that stupid that you couldn't understand Mr.Schillings financial situation? OR is it really your intent to demolish this building setting the bar to high for Mr. Schilling to meet?

Carter I still haven't gotten over your lip service of lies using gentrification as a platform to get elected. You should just shut your mouth, you talk to much. I plan on passing out fliers at church's in your ward during the next election letting folks know what a bull shitter you are.

I had a meeting to go to so I saved this guy for last. He's SPECIAL!

Helgen, you look like Clark Kent but you sure don't act like Superman.

When it comes to housing issues you act like the Tasmanian Devil. Spinning and rolling around destroying homes in your path. Imagine for one minute the roles are reversed and the city council is playing with your hard earned assets. Threatening to take thousands of dollars out of your pocket.

NEWS FLASH!

Man if this sh*t isn't getting interesting.

Looking at public records Schilling doesn't have much to worry about anymore. Super Lawyer John Shoemaker is on the case now.
This issue is going to the appellate court.

Shoemaker is going to clean the city's clock just like he did in the Bee Vue case. Hell by the time all of this is over Shoemaker will be able to retire compliments of the city council and the tax payers of Saint Paul.

After it is all over he'll probably be busier than a bee. After a couple of solid hits with cases like this and all of a sudden people start coming out of the woodwork with claims. Watching the video looks to me like the council is not one bit interested in a repair option. They want it torn down and that is why they keep sqirming around and wanting all these things that have nothing to do with the repair process. The guy has the check for the bond and the workers signed up and ready to start, That should be the end of it but the council is worried about deeds and taxes and BS, on a building they themselves say is not a hazard. Lots of luck with this one. At the end I think Thune will have a feather in his cap because he is the only one who acted and spoke with any common sense and logic.

I wonder if Dawkins tried to put on a show because he knows he is being watched. I recently watched a video of him in front of City Hall where he looked like a sleaze.

Thune is a slumloard himself, he can relate.

Two points.

One, for the entire time you have had this site Bob I have asked you to find one person that went in front of the council with a property in Thune's ward that he didn't give at least one extension. He is a historic advocate, he would rather not demo anything. Yes, eventually he will vote for a demo, but he rarely supports demo's in his ward. What you don't see is how many times he refuses to support a demo. Remember, nothing goes on the City Council agenda without being signed by at least one council member.

Two, Andy is a lawyer. He is paid to advocate for a client. When he worked for the City his job was to support the City's positions. When he works for a client his job is to put forward their positions. You may never know how he personally feels about those issues.

Those of us who represent people in front of government agencies or bodies (lobby) are paid to speak for those people. It isn't our job to give our opinions, it is our job to assist them in getting their message across. Andy is being paid to express his clients opinion and find the points of law that best address his clients issues.

In the past twenty years, I haven't expressed an opinion in front of a government body that wasn't paid for.

Andy is good at it because he brings the same passion to this clients interest as he did for the City.

Its nothing personal. Its being a paid advocate.

That is why I sign my posts...
