You heard the owners, they claim the city and this neighbor are a bunch of F..ing liars. I am a good judge of character and I believe this man was being truthful. I am going to the Luxor to talk to him.

Lantry and the others on the city council are instigating the voices of rage through out the city.

Your voter base of ignorant imbeciles will no longer be sufficient enough to get you back into office. All of you are fueling the tides of political change.

Isn't this shockingly similar to what ricomen are saying. They say the city lies and makes things up and so does this guy.

Ricomen say the city targets, so does this guy.

People have said the city gets neighbors to make complaints so they have a basis to punish you for whatever agends.....probably racist as ricomen also claim. So does this guy......150 to 200 police calls in a month and they make no arrests, and yet this guy is to blame for the nusiance!

I believe him just by having heard and read what ricomen and the 2 Nancy's have had to say and show us.

This guy is just another scapegoat being sacrificed up so the politicans and lazy lying cops can cover up their inability and lack of leadership.

Your a dirty bastard Lantry and you and your gang of thugs are gonna rot in hell when it comes time for God to judge you. Shame on you.

now, I'm not excited about the behavior of the police, after all who's going to get into their car at 2:15 after being in a bar all night with a bunch of squad cars around?

but, was Carter lying when he said he personally witnessed some of the behavior?

now I've been in a "few" bars in my day (met my wife playing darts), and closing time is usually not an issue. here's an idea, stop serving people drinks at 1:45 like every other law abiding establishment in town...

the council didn't take away his license, they didn't close the place down, they gave a punishment that would seem to fit the crime, along with a way to get back that extra hour of licensing. keep your nose clean, get back the 2am condition in six months...

I watched the videro and that Carter is a lyin son of a bitch. But then that seems to be a common theme with the city doesn't it?

Carter says he has been out waking and observed this behavior. Why didn't he stop and talk to the guy....maybe try to pick up a vote. You see the vioaltion was lst September when this lyin ass jerk says he's out walking around observing behaviors.....and supposedly trying to get votes. Why didn't he try to get the neighbor who called the cops 200 times and the bar owner toegther to work out a soloution? Why didn't he try to rally the neighbors together agains the bar and it's behavior? Cause he's a double talkin backstabin double dealin liar that's why......just like the rest of the council. Carter walking down the streets in frogtown is a joke. He'd get the crap kicked out of just becasue of the way he looks. Like Lantry....every time she wants to ram some new regulation through her fall back is that she gets complaints in her office. And let's not leasve out "demo Dan" who's never seen house that he didn't think was junk while he sits on a 5 acre lot of Lake Phalen looking down his nose at everyone who drives by. These people don't represent middle class values or anything else unless it helps them.

I went over to the Luxor and the owners weren't in. I left a letter with the owner and a link to the blog.

Even if they don't post I know they will read here. This man and his wife have come away from this experience with a very bad taste in their mouth concerning the city of Saint Paul. They will complain to family and friends of their ordeal as others have here and our numbers at A Democracy will grow as they have in the past.

As far as City Councilman Carter goes, I agree with the statement made by anonymous at 5:30. To add to this, Carter has the leadership skills of a 7th. grade classroom president.

Very disturbing meeting. The bar owner was raised in the area and stayed in the area with the rest of his family to run a business and provide a service to the people of the neighborhood and this is they way he gets treated? Thee's no doubt in my mind that he's telling the truth, but truth and facts are not the issue nor do they count for anything with this city. Someone has an agenda they want to push and they figured they could plug this business owner into it. First they did it to the landlords, then the homeowners and the elderly and now they're after the businesses they don't like.....all the while the cowards sit on the side lines hoping they will be the last to eaten by the corruption machine.

Who's next?

Maybe you!

Excuse me, but can I inject a little reality here. This went to an administrative law judge to determine the facts. The judge determined after listening to this guy and the police that he had violated the conditions of his liquor license. The facts according to the judge was that he did not have addiquate security and that people were walking out of the bar with booze.

So, after he loses at the ALJ he comes back to the council and says don't listen to the cops, don't listen to the neighbors that complain, don't listen to the judge... believe me because, I said so. I had nothing to show the judge, but I say so, so believe me. I don't think so.

I have testified in front of the council both for and against local bars. And, I don't know anything about this bar, but he has been in business for 6 months and has all this trouble, it doesn't sound like it is the City council that has the problem folks.

The Police are liar Chcuk. The city closed up Reaney's bar over selling after hours and people taking drinks outside too. Only thing is I have a good friend who ws thee when it happened and it didn't happen. The Police lied just like the housing inspectors lie when it suits the city's agenda. You don't convince me because I've seen first hand how St. Paul distort and misquotes thing to twist it around to fit their political whims and agendas.

I also think this bar owner is telling the truth. The landlords bringing the Federal action against the city have already shown that the city has rigged the Ramsey County court in the city's favor. St. Pauls Legislative Hearings with Marcia Moermond are nothing but a sham, people's right to come and address the Council is a sham, why would the hearings with a Adminsirtative Law Judge be any different? I'd bet some serious money that this owner is telling the truth. What he say sound shockingly close to what the landlords have been saying ofr years as their cases wind through the Court. St. Paul has a huge problem with "due process rights."

Bob,
Didn't you support melven carter over denise mongomery?

When dm was on the council she took a lot of hell for being pro-business and working to open and protect as many businesses as possible.

Carter lived in helgan's district and moved to mom's house to run for the council and took out DM because of her support for bars and businesses.

12:53, I believe Carter was elected because he was concerned about deconcentrating poverty. I supported Carter THEN for this very reason.

My opinion of Carter has changed significantly. He has become part of the machine that skirts around "due process" and violates civil rights.

Carter is spineless. Carter exhibits NO leadership qualities. Since he took office nothing has changed. Folks are still being driven from their home over condemnations for some very scandalous reasons. Minorities are still being driven from Frogtown and the East side.

If I were a new councilman I would not be supporting the objectives of this city council just so I could fit in among my peers. These morally bankrupt folks would have to answer to me.

Melvin grow "some balls", "be a man" and take these folks to task for the malicious behavior they have dealt out to many of the citizens of this city.

Ciani says,"So are you saying that the city council made up their mind because it went to a judge? Then why does this even get to them if its pre-determined?I guess you also believe judges can't be wrong in your world."

dunno, when I read the ALJ report, I have a really hard time believing the owner is the victim of some conspiracy. after all, if he really was the victim of a grand conspiracy, wouldn't the city have punished them more than just making them close an hour earlier? I think they got a more than fair hearing...

(I'm not an html user, so if someone could make that link into, well, a link, I'd appreciate it...)

Lantry and Helgen sure look like they are strange dudes. Maybe that is why Chuck is so fixated on the "Outer Limits".
