DIVAS CHRISTMAS PARTY..
Divas Overtime lounge had their Christmas party yesterday. Bill Dahn and I were invited. 2 wonderful ladies joined us for the party. We played Bingo and won a bunch of stuff. All the food you could eat free! I haven't played pool in years and we played for hours.
Deb Johnson is a wonderful charismatic person that just captivates a crowds attention. Deb was calling out the Bingo numbers and throwing in her exciting blend of humour.I have to say Deb makes this bar fun!The bar has been decorated every where with beautiful Christmas stuff.
The patrons were for the most part elderly people from the neighborhood.You know these neighborhood bars are the pulse of the neighborhood. Helgen closes this bar, he seals his fate in the next election!Most of the bars patrons have been regulars for years.
At around 6:30 the elderly people started leaving and younger patrons showed up. The security also came on, IN force! You can't get in this bar with out passing through a metal detector, and ladies, you get your purse searched for guns. It's a very secure place.
I really didn't see the need for the security since even the younger patrons were friendly and respectful. I was at the bar from 3:00 until 11:00. WE ALL HAD A GREAT TIME!
I have invited Lee Helgen to accompany me to Divas to see for himself what a fun secure place Deb Johnson runs. I pray I hear from him soon.
I don't hear from him I guess we're back to where we started. CRASH & BURN POLITICS.

Hello people,
I have been a resident of this neighborhood all my life.
We have always had some trouble in our neighborhood.In the 80's we had biker gangs and drug problems. Remember the big Rice street riot when bikers and police clashed.
I can tell everyone with honesty that not a single home was condemned over these people living in our neighborhood.They are gone and the homes are still here only now we have a different element of crime and a different strategy of addressing it.
Some of the neighbors find it easy to believe that a home or business is capable of attracting a criminal element.
Most of us have more reasoning than to believe this misconception.
Please, Mr. Helgen come over to Divas and speak with Deb Johnson the owner of Divas, she is also a long time citizen of this neighborhood.
You're right, it's a different staegy and that'a all it is. It han't worked for 15 years, and it's not going to work in the next 15 years either.
The reason they want to close Divs'a has nothing to do with Diva or the guy getting shot. It has to do with Lee Helgen and Kathy Lantry are bad losers because they didn't get their way in closing down Arnelia'a bar. Now they rush an ordinance through to make sure that the rest of the Council will not get the chance to second guess their authority again, so everyone gets punished whether they have it coming or not.....just as in the case of the landlords and their properties. Don't believe it? Get on your computer and watch the council meeting from when they tried to close Arnelias. It's clear as day that those two council members were just fuming because they didn't get their way, and immediately Helgen has a new ordinance. Your done Helgen. The people gonna get ya in the voting booth next year.
Bob is right about the crowd at Diva's.
Nice people, and fun for me as a Non Drinker.
The coffee there is great, and Free refills.
They have the tastiest French Fries, and we ordered 3 Baskets.
Good pool tables, we played 12 games.
That was the first time I played, in 12 years.
Deb Johnson-has a nice personality,
and makes the patrons feel welcome.
Our lovely Ladies had a great time,
and they talked with Deb about how nice the bar was.
We pland to go back and play pool offen.
The girls were Better pool players.

I never heard a peep out of Helgen. I guess when a Lion ROARS mice hide.
