Where is Chief Tom Smith? Is Smith going to pull a Bill Finney and protect his officers at all costs even if they broke the law or is Smith going to do the right thing and restore the public trust in our police officers?

It will be interesting to see what he does.

Chuck Repke What do you think of this

No evidence/done! The city would have one but feared bad publicity. Maybe Obama made them settle.

Bob,

We don't see everything that happened and we have no sound.

Clearly the guy who was punched in the face shouldn't have been punched in the face. But, from what we see of the second guy being arrested, the cop trips him, puts his arms behind his back and cuffs him. No beating of him.

Remember Bob these cops are in the ramp searching for someone that they believe has assaulted someone and may still be assaulting them. We don't hear what has gone on or see everything that happened in the ramp.

Do you really think these cops went inside a parking ramp for the fun of it Bob? Looking for someone to beat up?

They are responding to an account that someone is being assaulted.

You know cocksucker that if it was someone close to you who had been assaulted and someone told the cops that there may be an assault going on and if the cops would have sat on their hands or not gone running in the building looking for them you would be crying like the bitch you are about how the cops didn't respond to help your loved one.

Well, they responded, probably had some concern for their own safety when they went up the stairs and when this BIG guy who was almost 3 times the legal limit of drunk didn't move quick enough they went for him before he could go for them... unfortunately, he wasn't going to go for them and hadn't done anything wrong.

They aren't pigs Bob, they went up those stairs believing they were risking their lives for someone they hadn't even met.

You are a real piece of shit Bob.

I hope you need a cop some day.

Now now Chuck, language like this, "You know cocksucker" and "crying like a bitch" would get you suspended over at SPIF.

As a frequent reader here PLEASE refrain from such language, as I find it very offensive. You are turning into another Eric Mitchell.

You aren't angry are you Chuck? I guess we read things differently. What I get from the story is these two cops are lying to cover their ass. I believe the city attorneys seen through their BS or they wouldn't be advising the city to settle for 90K.

All in the name of safety. How convenient; in the last 5 days I heard city officials use the bullshit line of for the safety. Chuck the police did there job until they used excessive force. One of these cops cost the city 115k in 2005. You have no right to put your hands on another person unless you are being threatened or have probable cause.

Chuck I can't wait till the landlords beat the city. I'd like to take you out for a burger and a bloody nose!

....I got tired of being warned on SPIF for my choice of word and telling people what I thought of them that's why I left...

Its so much more enjoyable here to tell Bob what I really think of someone who calls cops "pigs" when we don't know enough to know what happened.

This is the compiled tape that the lawyers of the gentleman who were in the ramp put together. I have no idea if there is also film of these guys "play fighting" in the ramp that caused someone to go to the police and tell them someone was being assaulted in the ramp.

We also don't see how the first arrest went down other than the one officer pushing the red shirted gentleman in the chest when he got to the top of the step. Why would he push him? Hmmm lets see do you think that its because that you would be an idiot that could get your head kicked in if you stood bellow someone on a stairs while you were arguing with them? Maybe he did hit him for no reason. If he did I hope he loses his job. But, I didn't see a tape of him hitting him. I saw a tape of him coming up the steps that a BIG guy in a red shirt is at the top of the stairs and the cop rushes him. Then no more tape.

So, Bob you read it that these two cops were just looking for somebody to beat up one Saturday night and decided to go looking for the two BIGGEST, DRUNKEST, WHITEST guys they could find?

Think about it Bob...

If you read the record the Settlement was signed off I believe by Judge Guthman (sp)
By sending News Release to over 1,000 persons it may have forced Fred Melo to print? PS Melo is a Member of e-dem also

What do you want to know? I've been reading and sending congrats to the E-Democracy crew that just recieved a $625,000.00 grant. That's how legit forums roll.

So, what was the question?

WOW Theres a video showing abuse

$90,000 settlement
Allegations and the city council gives the tax payers money on just a allegation, this don't sound like a allegation to me, it sounds like a conspiracy and let get Ex Governor Jesse Ventura involved in this and he will get the truth out of these cops, even if he has to do some water-boarding.
Remember the truth will set you free, but it still cost the tax payers $90,000.
We should have the two strikes and you out, for the one cop that this happened to before.

Go to Youtube and look this up

My response;
Viewing the video, considering the two officers have conflicting statements, the city's willingness to settle, experience of having worked civil rights issues for the last 5 years, experience with the police when I was a young guy, I determined they are GUILTY.

But to satisfy your curiosity I will contact these guys for an interview Chuck and ask them to come here and tell their story. If leagalities stop them from posting here I will tell their side of the story here. In the interest of fairness, I will contact these officers and let them know we are talking about them.

With names like Spelbrink & Geistfeld I won't have any trouble finding these guys.

Now you have really done it Chuck. You expect us to not believe what we see with our own eyes? The cops are guilty.

My response;
Here is some irony, E Dem share's the stage with this little town hall(David & Goliath). Both A Democracy and E Dem have been awarded "top blog" awards. The link is on the home page Eric. I emailed Steve and Tim to congratulate them on the award we share.

Our Civil/property rights group has been invited to join the Capitol City Business Council. Among other issues we will be discussing the development of a news venue unlike any this city has ever seen.

Activist Johnny Howard met with us Eric. Johnny attended the stand in with Les and I at city hall. Representative of Capitol City Business Council were there too.

Eric, over the years we sure have had some begrudging disagreements, a testament to my fairness is the fact I have never ostracized you.

In fact you have traits like Chuck that I respect and admire. Of coarse I don't like the dishonesty of you guys spin on many important truths here.

Nice to hear from you Eric!

Congratulations Bob...I am sorry I didn't notice the award sooner!

I do continue to read here often but do not post often due to the negative comments from a selective few posters. With my current goals in life I do not need to draw negative attention nor do I need to gain haters that may seek revenge in the city of St. Paul. so I swallow my pride at times and remain quiet kind of like pleading the 5th...

I guess I was not observant enough to have notice your award...you have created a great place for citizens to speak up, what a great accomplishment, again CONGRATULATIONS!
