On this day, it behooves us to remember the words of Martin Niemoller. 'First they came for the communists,' he wrote, 'and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me."

...and you clowns that cheer the actions of the GOP in Wisconsin... we have seen your brown shirts before.

My God, Chuck. Dramatic much?

How DARE you profane and trivialize Niemöller's legacy. He was referring to the power of the state to strip people of their HUMAN RIGHTS, their LIBERTY, and their LIVES.

You are invoking the Holocaust to defend the practice of requiring us private sector suckers to work 'til we're 70 so public-sector workers can retire at 55.

If I thought you could feel shame, Chuck, I'd say "shame on you". But if you could feel shame, you'd have never said anything quite so invincibly stupid.

5;26 you ignorant boob.. this is exactly how it started in the 1930's in a country not so far away...

You are stripping people of their right to associate (collective bargaining) and their right to belong to trade unions.

Your friends in the brown shirts were supported by the industrial owners in Germany for doing the exact same things.

They didn't start by building gas chambers, they started by convincing people that the wealthy and the powerful would provide if properly supported and that it was the people who had little or nothing that were the enemy and that it was ok to hate them and take their rights away from "those people."

You are taking away their human rights and their liberty... life is how many steps away...?

I stand by my words.

Please, don't just read wikapedia and think that you have an education.

The Nazi party was supported by the German industrialist. They funded them. One quick pull off of the net...

"Although the Nazi government officials provided the leadership in preparing Germany for war, they received also the enthusiastic and invaluable cooperation of the German industrialists.

On the invitation of Goering, approximately 25 of the leading industrialists of Germany, together with Schacht, attended a meeting in Berlin on 20 February 1933. This was shortly before the German election of 5 March 1933. At this meeting Hitler announced the conspirators' aim to seize totalitarian control over Germany, to destroy the parliamentary system, to crush all opposition by force, and to restore the power of the Wehrmacht. Among those present at that meeting were Gustav Krupp, head of the munitions firm, Alfried Krupp, A.G.; four leading officials of the I. G. Farben Works, one of the world's largest chemical concerns; Albert Vogler, head of United Steel Works of Germany; and other leading industrialists."

If you read any history at all you will know that because the first enemy of the Nazi's were the real "socialist" parties... the communists and the labor parties, it was them who they went after first.

That is what Niemoller is refering to. The Nazi's said that they would bring us better living conditions and to do that they had to destroy the labor parties... and they were supported in that effort by the industrialists of Germany. Many of them were convicted after the war for war crimes.

Is Nuremberg totally forgoten?

Is FOX doing that good of a job of changing history???

The facts are that they were elected with the financial support of the leading industrialist of Germany... these Angry White Men... who HATE imagrents and Labor Unions, and Communists supported by the wealthy elite (sounds like today??) took power and went after the labor unions.

I stand by the facts.

Nazi Party = Socialsits Democrats
Democrat Party = Socialist Democrats.

Same name, same ideology, same platform.

DFL = Nazi

The great uniter has us in another war? What about the Nobel Peace price for his future potential? Gee we are still in Iraq, escalating the war in Afghanistan, and now he has his own little war. I figured by this own hype he could fly in there and solve this problem just by spreading his hands over the land and declaring it so.

Hope and change. By the way, we are broke. Who is financing this little war? Just the 112 Tomahawk missiles fired off cost us at least 150 million dollars.

Maybe he can get a golf game in quick on his vacation in RIO and work on some of these issues. He is like OJ. Out searching for the truth on the golf courses.

It's high time the American government, you know, the government we the tax payers are paying for demand the pumpkin heads running or should I say ruining this country to spend as much time, money and energy protecting American; borders, soil, sovereignty and democracy as they do worrying about other countries and their internal strife. Thanks to the political environment in America, America is no longer the once great and powerful nation of years past, and we the American people should be grateful the American politicians haven't taken away all our rights and destroyed this country completely, there still may be hope for America, now it's time for America to leave other countries alone and let them decide for themselves through action and deed what they want for their country and themselves.

OK 1:00 PM, another history leasson for you.

The Nazi's which were officially the National Socialist German Workers Party came in first in the 1932 election and in second was the "Social Democratic Party of Germany" which would have been closest to the Democratic party in the US and in third was the Communist Party.

The "Social Democrat's" had run the government without the support of the Nazi's before the 1932 election.

Please read a little bit of history to educate yourself...

Chuck, the Democrats have been turning our country into a socalist government. First in the south they kept the African Americans enslaved for over 100 years through their "Black Codes" and their poll taxes. It was the Republicans who tried to free them and the Democrats prevented this for over 100 years. Now the Democrats want to enslave us in a socialist government like North Kores and China.

Chuck who are you trying to fool. They tried socialism in Russia and it failed. They tried socialism in Cuba and it failed, they tried socialism in North Kores and it Failed. The list goes on and no.

The Red DFL is pure socialism and very unAmerican.

You mean communism not socialism. And, Russia is the only one that gave up. North Korea- still there, Cuba- still there and the biggest one of all that own our asses, China-still there.

Those are not desirable forms of government and the only party that is borrowing tactics from them are the Republicans. Using propaganda through mass media to spread fear through lies and misinformation.

According to the researchers, daily Fox News viewers were “significantly” more likely than non-Fox viewers to believe:

*Most economists estimate the stimulus caused job losses (12 points more likely)

*Most economists have estimated the health care law will worsen the deficit (31 points)

*The economy is getting worse (26 points)

*Most scientists do not agree that climate change is occurring (30 points)

*The stimulus legislation did not include any tax cuts (14 points)

*Their own income taxes have gone up (14 points)

*The auto bailout only occurred under Obama (13 points)

*When TARP came up for a vote most Republicans opposed it (12 points)

*And that it is not clear that Obama was born in the United States (31 points)

The suggestion that Fox News viewers are “misinformed” comes after a series of leaked memos from Fox News Washington bureau chief Bill Sammon that gave specific coverage guidelines on hot button issues like health care and climate change.

They are playing you suckers like a cheap violin and all they give you is words like socialism, communism and 'take our country back'.

Fools.

Who can't control spending? The Democrats.

Last years budget was over ^$ Billion over what was scheduled to be brought in. The Democrats were in charge of the house and senate in Minnesota and in Washington. Spending was out of control and they were voted out of office in November by a populas who are fed up of the spending.

You cry about LGA. This is only taking from peter to pay paul. If St. Paul were to limit spending their would be no difficulty. If our Democrats in this state would have fostered a pro business climate, then so many businesses would not have left and take tax dollars with them.

The Democrats have ruined our city and they are trying to ruin our state.

St. Paul is dead because of the Democrats failed pollicies over the last 30 years.

Their only solution is to tax the rich. This is the wrong way to go about it. Guys like Chuck have the city council in their back pocket. Chuck doesn't have to worry about where his next meal ticket is going to come from, as he will be handed another prime deal from his city hall insiders.

I see Chuck is on the St. Paul Charter Commission. He is a DFL activest redrawing the ward lines so his buddy will keep his job.

How is the Carter and Helgen situation working out for you?

Thanks Bob for keeping this blog decent so all can read it. Eric and Chuck there are students who read this blog and your inappropriate language is really showing what the Democrat Party is really made up of. The DFL is made up of angry, disrespectful individuals who will go to great lengths to degrade someone who they don't agree with.

6:16 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

That doesn't make sense. Who is to be protected in a town that is all DFL? Doesn't matter where the lines are drawn.

Helgen's opponent is also a big progressive who will stand with tenants. Carter's opponent, same thing. He also refused to join in on the suit even though he is a landlord and has had issues with the city. What's your point?
