Hi All,

Code Enforcement has asked the owners of the the Minnehaha Bowling Lanes to repair this neon sign.

Years ago a teenager I knew (he is deceased now) gained access to the roof of the old Schmidt Brewery to sniff paint, and while he was up there he cut the wires on the neon sign of the c, m, & d of the word Schmidt. Wow that paint would make this guy goofy.

It was lite this way for a couple of days. "SHIT BREWERY".

This photo is from "City Hall Scoop".

You can find a link to City Hall Scoop on the front page to the right of the screen under the image of the City of Saint Paul.

From American language:

Bong: a mechanism used to toke or smoke marijuana. Not a bowl or pipe.

Cock: 1.penis 2.male genitalia
3.a dumbass 4. a dumbass ex-boyfriend
-----

The problem is the ratty look when less than half of your neon sign lights up. Code Enforcement was pretty clear that they can't do anything about the words and its not their concern, however the broken lights are.

The sign looks like crap. It's about time code enforcement does something to earn the tax payers dollar.

Bob, You bring back memories. I knew the vandel of Schimdt Brewery. He was my neighbor on Watson. "D.M.".

Anyone remember years ago when the squad cars were parked across from the police station above Interstate 94? D.M. went to the police station and flattened the tires on over 20 squad cars in retaliation for being falsly arrested by the Saint Paul P.D..

D.M. use to climb trees and sniff paint in our west 7th. street neighborhood.

signed

Barb Bensons neighbor.

Send code enforcement out to Lino Lakes, there is a county sign that
says " Deep Bitch " its is supposed to say " Deep ditch ".

Been that way for the last 8 years.

11:44, F off.!

D.M. also done time in Stillwater for raping a little old lady on our block. She lived next door to D.M. and had to live next door to him when he got out of prison and moved back in with his grandma on Watson.

She was in her seventies. D.M. said to the victim quote "even I need a little loving"

I could have said his name here, out of respect for his sister I didn't.

He is dead and the neighborhood is a better place without him.

Bob,
You should know your readers by now. They are not going to read the article so, like Nancy started, they will harp on the what the sign says when the article is clear- code enforcement doesn't care what it says.

Code enforcement cited freedom of speech to say what you want. It's the unsightly look of the sign that they are being warned about. It really does look like shit.

So, you should be complaining about code enforcement making them do something about the eyesore of having less than half of your neon sign lit up. It's like downtown Carson City in the 70's.

There is nothing unsightly about the sign and there is no legal basis for code enforcement to cite them with anything.
Thats bullshit that code enforcement says it respects freedom to say what you want.
You really believe Eric that the sign is really that unsightly for being half lit up ?
If driver byes want to see the twisted definition in the wording of it that sounds like a personal problem.
Its not going to affect his buisness .

Stop being stupid-please.

I gave you and synopsis of the article that wasn't posted. State your argument of belief without trying to pick a fight with the messenger.

That's another problem with some of you on here, you're so ready to kill or blow the messenger, depending on what side you're on, you don't even read what's written.

Folks I do find humour in the sign. I think they should fix it though.

Think of the kids..

I find the sign humorous but I understand how it is offensive to many people. some of us have had a good laugh but its time for the owners to fix the sign or replace it with a new type of sign other than neon so they do not have to keep paying money to repair it.

Chuck said,"And Tim, I get your point if every housing unit in the City isn't inspected on the same day then the City can't inspect anyone."

Chuck NHPI closes files without inspection on PHA and has never condemned or required a code compliance on any of their housing.NOT ONE, NOT ZIP!NADA!And they have gangs and criminal activity happening around the clock. Are you saying no one complains about PHA housing? Are you saying that PHA has slipped by NHPI and Fire do to the fact that their housing is some of the best around the country? What about the behavior aspect then CHUCKIE?

Chuck the fact is people do complain on PHA and they have the same problems as private landlords that rent to low income. The point is that they get treated totally different.Chuck and if you can't see that with the evidence your either stupid or your heads up Daves ass so far you can't see or hear.

Chuck don't you remember PHA president talking about selling 17 of their scattered site properties because each of them needed $40,000 worth of work.Chuck thats more then Dave and you needed on your homes put together. And we all know they looked like shit.Just imagine Chuck $40,000.I'm sure the private guy would get left alone right?

And one last thing Chuckie Cheese your right about 12-15 landlords in the suit. These weren't the only ones hurt by the citys actions.THEY ARE THE BRAVE ONES TO TAKE THEIR LIFE SAVINGS AND FIGHT THIS CITY FOR THEY ONES THAT COULDN'T.There will be more suits.

I commend these landlords. These will catch on like wild fire and the talk around the city is loud!

Please respond Chuck.

I'm afraid Tim is right, every single time there's litigation like this and people see it as a winning case, all of a sudden there's a hundred more victims and three hundred more lawyers to represent them. Wait and see, what's going on now isn't even scratching the surface.

It may sound crazy, but I have to agree with nancy.
This is micro management of citizens and an attack on free speech .
What I mean is that what is the word Bo ng Cock is protected free speech and if this issue wasnt about advertising, code enforcement wouldnt.

Bob, what if this resteraunt ran an add in the paper and a typo said Ba ng cock ?

Who would police the newspaper because of the typo, code enforcement ?

Where does it end is Nancys point.

This is hilarious, however, it is nonsensical to rip into code for requiring the owner to fix this sign.

Some of you people despise code enforcement so much your judgement is clouded. Grow up!

Bob,do you know what ordinance is being used to force compliance with this ?

And Amanda, there are alot worse things out there like pornography.

Dont you think code should be more pro active in getting smut out of
the community as opposed to making an example out of some resteraunt bowling alley ?

Oh, thats right, pornography is legal and having a broken sign isn,t.

Women should be able to go topless just like men.

Hey Ricomen, Amanda says you should grow up !
And,your judgment is clouded.
I am sure the owners of the establishment are going to comply with the pressure put on it by code enforcement if only to fend off future retaliation.
The Ricomen know what I am talking about.

Amanda Code enforcement has been clouded by their behavior the past 8 years. They don't even know what a violation is,how are we?This is what happens when you sey=t up code enforcement to resolve issues indirectly associated with the code.Meaning behavior!
